Lula: "We had to overcome foreign interference through digital platforms, which we will have to regulate. A crime in the digital world must be treated the same as a crime in the real world. We cannot have monstrous companies earning millions... not paying taxes... wanting to steer elections."

Last night, with a packed house, I attended the Academy's US premiere of the impeccable 4K restoration of the Hammer classic Horror of Dracula. Jack Asher's Technicolor cinematography looks fabulous. James Bernard's score sounds even better. If you can find it playing theatrically, go for it!

Delighted to have joined some great writers and contributed my own 'missing episode' of supernatural soap opera Dark Shadows to this anthology, with profits going to Film is Fabulous.

Available for pre-order now... FABULOUS! A MISSING EPISODES ANTHOLOGY With new stories from the worlds of Dr Who; Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe; Crossroads; Ace of Wands; Dads Army; Mr Rogers Neighborhood; Dixon; Doomwatch; Dark Shadows; Adventure Game; Avengers; and the Trollenberg Terror...

Episode 3 of the Hallowe’en special of Last One Laughing is devastatingly funny that the only way I can think to get over it is to watch it again immediately.

Scotland, too (although the NMI’s Ghost Turnip is in a league of its own). They’re an absolute bastard to carve, requiring multiple stabbings with potato peelers to core out the neep. This is “Hallowe’en”, oil on canvas, c.1911, by William Stewart MacGeorge (1861–1931) artuk.org/discover/art...

Long before pumpkins became the Halloween tradition, people in Ireland carved turnips into spooky faces to ward off wandering spirits. This wonderful Ghost Turnip is on display at the National Museum of Ireland, Turlough Park, Castlebar, Co. Mayo, and it's guaranteed to stop you in your tracks!

Tumble weed across legacy media about ITV's exposé of Reform. Can you imagine the hysteria if an SNP councillor advocated for concentration camps or a Muslim Labour candidate said he wants to shoot MPs he considers traitors? The Mail front pages, Telegraph thinkpieces, and somber Today interviews?

Elon Musk's radicalisation machine is the main reason why civil war talk is a thing in Britain. Without it, Lowe would be a nonentity: there's no organic demand for Restore's fascism; It's been manufactured, and now "what needs to happen will be incredibly painful" is in the high single digits.

Sunder Katwala (sundersays)@sundersays.bsky.social

Rupert Lowe of Restore Britain says the electoral success of his political party would "inevitably" lead to civil unrest and rioting. His argument is increasingly that civil conflict has become unavoidable + absolutely necessary (if still partly regrettable + somewhat to be blamed on opponents)

This right here is the power of Elon Musk to completely warp politics without *giving a penny* as a political donation Without X, Lowe would be a no hoper independent MP Instead he’s spreading ethnic cleansing chat to normies. Wild

Mr Farage wants to prosecute the journalists who've revealed the rot at the heart of his party. If he cared about that at all he'd be thanking them instead.

To carry out a referendum as they did, then to implement Brexit as they did and then to fail to scrutinise any of it - as they have done ever since - is an epic abuse of power and betrayal of our country by those charged to act in its best interests. Fault lines that will undermine Brexit forever.

Reuters just reported *as fact* that consumers will be able to get a flying car from Elon Musk starting in about 16 to 18 months. That's not journalism. That's *copying and pasting Tesla marketing copy* onto the digital pages of what used to be one of the more respected media outlets in the world.

This was kind of what was missing when Cameron fucked us over with his backbench appeasement all those years ago. People should have been shown, over a longer period of time, in easy to understand chunks, what leaving the EU would really mean. Anything less than that was weapons grade ineptitude.
