Another one! Here’s my ranking of 50 recurring characters from “Star Trek: Deep Space 9.” For characters who appear in multiple shows, I’m only going off their DS9 appearances — in any case I’ve only seen a smattering of TNG and most, but I don’t think all, of TOS.

Okay. Here’s my ranking of 54 recurring Lost characters. To get to a Lost-compliant number (4 + 8 + 42 or 15 + 16 + 23 or simply half of 108) I cut out some supplementary Others, flashback characters I don’t really have big feelings on (sorry Liam, sorry Nadia), and Aaron (really just some baby).

My idea of what constitutes a “big game” froze in amber around 6 - 8 GB, which was the size of the PC games that came on six CD-ROMS and it took a whole afternoon to download them and you could only have two or three of them on your computer at a time. After that I stopped paying attention

Grand Theft Auto VI reported to be 210 GB download

Something flipped over in the past couple years where people now usually express envy when they learn that I’m still on a flip phone — I think a lot of adamant AI refusal comes from people who at least kinda wish they’d had the foresight to refuse smartphones and/or social media 20 or 15 years ago

"you have to get on board with AI or youre going to be like someone who refuses to use electricity" friend, you underestimate how far i will go to be a hater

In time for Halloween I have started “Resident Evil: Village.” The evil village reminds me of some places we went in Czechia last month, except it should have way more museums and tacky souvenir shops

REVIII: The tall busty vampire lady is sort of neat, but I’ve been incidentally exposed to enough tacky porn and fanart of the character that it sours the effect. One of those things that’s already been calibrated to be as over-the-top libidinal as it can be before it just becomes embarrassing.

“Hey I got an idea: what if Lady Dimitrescu took off her dress but not the hat and then she sat on—” No, sorry, this one’s fully cooked already. You’re putting sprinkles on a glazed donut. Why don’t you actually use your imagination and make some fetish art of Gus from Stardew Valley or something

I think we underestimate the appeal of antigambling politics because every problem gambler is surrounded by 3-10 people who are absolutely sick of their shit.

In the last few weeks i've been bombarded with emails from people who have minor tech support problems. ChatGPT is telling them to email me, writing their emails, and compiling "evidence packets" after convincing them they have stumbled on a major story: www.404media.co/chatgpt-keep...

ReelShort's 'The Triplets' Final Regret,' a vampire soap opera, hits No. 1 for the third time as the most-watched microdrama across paid platforms, per Owl & Co.'s latest Vertical Index snapshot. Full charts: bit.ly/4BqzZzV

This era is so weird because all the radical hippie kids who were inspired by Stan Lee are now writing the books in response to the bleak 70s, but the format of the stories hasn’t really changed much yet, so it’s all peppy kid-friendly adventure stories about race riots and Nixon killing himself

Matt, I’m sorry that I reposted two posts because I was happy that the Amazon rainforest isn’t going to get bulldozed 😔 I did a globalism and that was wrong

I think this becomes quite understandable in the context of an international fascist movement that has swept much of the planet in a decade, with horrifying and very extreme consequences for the entire species

Rick Steves gives Dimetrescu Village one 🔺: the view of the castle is breathtaking, but after you’ve seen it there isn’t really much to do other than turn around and wait for the next bus back to Brno. “Increased tourist traffic and a mysterious “Biohazard” have ruined its former picturesque charm.”

Brazil’s results tonight are a big endorsement for the idea that every country should have a second “are you you sure about that” election a couple weeks after the first one for the important stuff

I've never been to The Factory but on a warm night, the outdoor seating at the one at the mall is usually absolutely packed. Doesn't seem like one of those franchises that started dying out as soon as you could find reviews of restaurants online. That said, I don't like cheesecake or factories

THE FACTORY

The name looks like “Frankenstein” and various other Germanic names kids might be familiar with, so everyone assumes it’s spelled in that intuitive way instead of the bizarre and unprecedented “Barenstain.” Not really a difficult case

The Berenstein Bears thing is just a glitch in the Matrix. I did not misremember that.

It’s so funny that we completely faceplanted trying to make a Dark Universe seventy years after this movie did it in eighty-three minutes as a joke

468.) Abbott and Costello Meet Frankenstein (1948) Really more about Dracula than it is about Frankenstein. But it's still a really fun Halloween picture. The final punchline got a nice round of singular applause out of me.

do think there's a danger of looking at extremely cool shit like a car driving upside down then doing a kickflip before landing, and convincing yourself it's actually lame because the guy funding it is a white supremacist

Even though this kid was like 2 years old at the time she must have somehow gotten ahold of the “Barrack HUSSEIN Obama” / secret Muslim thing, but that playbook doesn’t make any sense when the candidate’s first name is “Abdul” and he is very openly Muslim and talks about being Muslim on stage a lot

Airbnb went from a cheap way to crash in a spare bedroom or rent a vacation house for a weekend and turned into "what if hotels openly hated you and acted like they were doing you a favor by letting you give them hundreds of dollars to stay there, and also it's more expensive"

Airbnb is banning its hosts from making guests do things like “stripping the bed, taking trash offsite, or washing and putting away dishes.” The hosts....are not taking it well: www.wired.com/story/airbnb...
