This went on for the rest of the full hour, at which point the BBC apologised for having to go to the weather and urged viewers to follow continuing live coverage on iPlayer. Forty-one minutes of unfiltered, unchallenged propaganda by a far right party with 8 MPs, now third in the polls. Discuss.

Alex Andreou@sturdyalex.bsky.social

BBC News just interrupted its coverage to go, live, to Nigel Farage - a man with no contitutional standing in our setup - responding to the budget - a document which nobody has seen yet. WHY

Bolsonaro's loss is not just a loss for Bolsonaro. It's a loss for Trump. For Musk. For Milei. For Netanyahu. For Farage. For Meta and Zuckerberg. For the meat barons, the fossil fuel corporations, and the rest of the neocolonial looters. And it is a massive win for humanity and the living planet.

Your weekend reminder that Nigel Farage wants to - leave the ECHR - repeal the Equality Act - Strip back workers rights - Lift restrictions on exploitative zero-hours contracts - repeal Renters’ Rights Act which abolishes “no fault evictions” He is not on your side youtu.be/KxOQRt8PQys?...

We are spending Ben Delo's £36m donation on producing a new propaganda newspaper, The Reformer. Then we are spending Chris Harborne's £36m donation on the postage bill when everyone sends it back to us one page at a time using the Freepost addresses below:

"Many elected officials within Reform believe the party is putting on an acceptable face to get elected, and then would install a British ICE, engage in mass deportations, or enact violent reprisals against civil servants, police officers, and others who it felt had betrayed Britain."

Unlike the USA the UK hasn't enough genuine "Christian" nutters, so the far-right just pretend. As long as it helps justify their xenophobic anti-immigration doctrine. Christian nationalism in Britain driven by people who seldom go to church, says report www.theguardian.com/world/2026/o...

Not to be pedantic but Christopher Harborne has already given £25 million to Reform and Ben Delo £8 million. So the figure isn’t £72 million - it’s £105 million.

Turns out that if you are an old lady with a banner supporting Palestine, the government arrests you on charges of terrorism. If you are a masked white male thug bringing a national port to a standstill, the government does absolutely nothing, and the media covers it like some lads on a day out.

Any politician calling to leave the ECHR is lying about what that will achieve. It won’t solve any problem or improve our lives It will make us worse off and remove our rights. Just like Brexit. The ECHR belongs to us all. It’s not theirs to take. Please sign www.europeanmovement.co.uk/echr-petition

16.35 BST Today Richard Tice is now speaking and, during the address, a banner has appeared behind him reading “Collect £5 million, burn the planet”. The banner, which also depicted Nigel Farage in a top hat and carrying a bag of money, remained visible for several minutes before being taken down.

It would be impossible to guess any of this from most media coverage.

New immigration stats show that the numbers of asylum seekers in hotels is down to 16k - falling 50% in a year. Small boat crossings down 23% in the year to June. Numbers waiting for initial decision down from almost 180k to 40k.

Yet again msm and social media goes into a frenzy because Reform suggest they may, possibly, if they are elected, consider a proposal of an idea they may implement. Could be almost 3 years til a GE. Farage & Reform are losing support and credibility. A very long way from No.10. Ignore 'em.

Much of this reflects deliberate seasonal burning. Across sub-Saharan Africa, fire is a long-standing tool for clearing land, managing pasture, and preparing fields for planting. The DRC leads all countries with 13.6 million hectares burned, an area roughly the size of England.

Mail blames Labour. The UK is one of the most nature depleted countries. About 6% of the UK is defined as wilderness. Rewilding schemes in England only cover few thousand hectares and generally aimed at making the local environment wetter, so less likely to burn. www.dailymail.com/news/article...

As suspected, the "millionaire exodus from the 🇬🇧 UK" turned out to be yet another right-wing media myth. The data suggest that millionaire emigration is, in reality, negligible close to 0% rather than the mass flight so confidently proclaimed.

Anyone watched BBC TV’s show ’Play School’? Here’s an unsolved mystery… She first appeared in 1964, and last appeared in 1986. She appeared in perhaps 6,000 episodes. She is, of course, the doll ‘Hamble’! Can anyone tell me where she is? (This is worse than Paul McCartney’s lost bass guitar)

I strongly believe in giving the man a chance. But keeping Shabana Mahmood as Home Secretary suggests the vicious attacks on immigrants and refugees, and self-defeating attempts to outrun the far right, are likely to continue. Which is pretty damn depressing. www.theguardian.com/commentisfre...

I meet people every week when out vox popping who are completely convinced that small boat crossings are rising exponentially. They aren’t - they are falling substantially. Journalists and politicians have a duty to get this message across. Some are mendacious, others just incompetent.

Sunder Katwala (sundersays)@sundersays.bsky.social

Small boats to UK now down 45% year on year to mid-July. The BBC continues to (mistakenly) tend to hypothesise a weather effect. It is neither weather nor UK govt policy. It is a change in EU-wide flows.
