Oh ffs. MPs must stop romanticising this absolute horseshit. Brexiters promised a land of milk and honey and delivered contaminated water and broken biscuits. We don’t want it. And we mustn’t be tied to failure and lies just because politicians want to cover up the utter mess they’ve made.

Shameful from Jeremy Hunt. His pretence to be a wise elder statesman shot to pieces. Like all torys he will follow the party line set by Badenoch because party loyalty is always more important than the needs of the country. Interestingly his constitution was overwhelmingly remain...

The BBC is set to scrap Radio 4 Extra. 📻 Losing this treasure trove of classic comedy, archive drama, and timeless storytelling would be a massive blow for millions of us. Sign the petition to help save Radio 4 Extra 👇 you.38degrees.org.uk/petitions/sa...

I'm of the view that Andy Burnham thinks #PMQ is a complete waste of his and Parliament's time. I think he's right. For Badenoch its much more important because it puts her in the spotlight briefly. But it doesn't provide a meaningful scrutiny of government business nor does it shape future policy

#r4today Jeremy Hunt championing economic growth. I smell hypocricy as he has never been supportive of new housing (or solar farms) in his patch because at the end day he will always defer to the elderly home owning NIMBYs he relies on to get reelected.

This is quite extraordinary. I don't think I have heard a more coherent, articulate and accurate deconstruction & demolition of Nigel Farage's ReformUK, Tory & Restore policy than this. In under 85 seconds! @rafaelbehr.bsky.social is on here folks and worth a follow.

Brilliant analysis.

New post: The Tory conference represented a clear change in strategy. But so far the shift has been largely superficial and rhetorical. There are three big problems with making the strategy work - and it is not at all clear they're resolvable. samf.substack.com/p/the-three-...

Telling that at #bbcnewsatone they could only find Chris Philp, the awful Pickles and IDS to interview. It says something when IDS is the most lucid. Still think torys will do a deal with reform... their thirst for power is too much.

Richard Parker Mayor of West Midlands discussing #housingcrisis on #BBC ##weekendnewsatone. On top of subject and solution focused. Reminder that devolution is at the heart of economic growth. So much better than the newspaper hack and policy wonk who started the debate.

📢 The PM'S promise to amend the triple lock next parliament is good news for the public finances, and for the vulnerable pensioners who lose far more from a broken care system than they gain from a random ratchet on their pension ⤵️

The standard of debate about local gove devolution in hampshire had dismal. Mostly nlnny's from posh parishes worried about being in larger unitaries. Devolution brings joined up services, long term planning and fiscal freedom from the treasury. www.bbc.co.uk/sounds/play/... this worth a listen.

bbc.co.ukThe Briefing Room - Will a devolution revolution help boost the economy? - BBC SoundsWill moving power away from the centre to the English regions lead to economic growth?

Not sure why the tourist tax was headline on BBCPM but the debate heavily influenced by the Westminster establishment / BBC view that those provincial types couldn't be trusted to make the decisions. Patronising and wrong. Devolution is the way forward. The deadhand of the treasury needs to go

Feel bit sorry for prince george. Being taken to school by mummy and daddy at age 13 is humiliating. At that age id spent 5 years catching the bus to school in Portsmouth. You can dislike the monarchy as archaic and pointless and feel sympathy for their lack of freedom

Annoyed by hampshire council reorgan. being cancelled/delayed. Torys playing games and some posh parishes playing games An easier alternative? North hants unitary (b and d, hart and r'moor) Leave pmouth and soton IoW as is Unitary covering rest. Need mechanism for strategic planning in south

So, if I understand Nigel Farage's argument correctly it is: "Everyone I trusted and elevated into a position of responsibility is constantly doing crimes that benefit me but of which I somehow have no knowledge. I am a man with the character, judgement, and intelligence to run the country." Ok.

I recall chatting to a guy a couple of years back who did the prostate test at Fratton Park, they found he had early stages of cancer. Treated easily with pills because it was caught early. Best save Alan Knight ever made? Get yourselves checked #pompey

Dipped briefly into baseball on #bbc. Apparently new york Yankees against Boston red sox is biggest sporting rivalry in world sport. American exceptionalism writ large. Biggest game in baseball... a game hardly anyone outside USA watches or cares about.
