@orieloxford.bsky.social is an appropriate venue given how much the college has benefitted from Cecil Rhodes' non-DEI plundering of Africa (and the fact his offensive statue still looks down on the High Street). It also seems that Reform have other lectures booked there.

The Anne Frank House definition of Zionism needs to be read carefully:

It's hard to see how the Green party's motion today will avoid an investigation by the EHRC, given Labour was previously found in breach.

And the biggest howler: Reform’s geniuses in Kent were apparently able to repaint a fence, trim the verge, plant grass seed (and get it to grow instantly), redo the pavement and repave the road all so quickly that the car in the top-right corner didn’t move an inch! Amazing!

NEC will open nominations for new leader on July 9th - after the Nato summit. If there are no other candidates, you can expect Burnham to be in Number 10 by the following week.

“If I was going to design a facility to grow algae, I would probably design a facility that had a lot of surface area and was very shallow, so you have sunlight down to the bottom... ...It’s just a perfect facility for growing algae.” Brilliant story!

Donald Trump has a new nemesis, with a name worthy of a supervillain, @mviser.bsky.social writes. He reports on what he learned after scientists tested samples of the algae that’s infested the Reflecting Pool:

In 2024 a NATO report found: "Kremlin-backed actors have been found to be pushing climate change denialism across the Alliance, all while actively attempting to derail climate change mitigation policies & renewable energy investment." Remember this when you listen to those attacking climate action.

Have some longer thoughts on the Blair intervention, but big challenge for him is, fairly or not, the public aren't particularly inclined to want govt to listen. When we asked about which ex-PMs (and podcasting MPs) govt should listen to he got lowest 'worth listening to' of any ex PM bar Truss.

JUST DROPPED: Europe thought it won the energy war. Build LNG terminals, swap Russian pipelines for LNG, job done. Then Hormuz closed & prices doubled. We didn't end our dependency. We just changed who we are dependent on. But bright spots on horizon. open.substack.com/pub/janrosen...

I hope this isn’t true. There are times when it’s more important to put country before party. This is one of them. Burnham’s longstanding commitment to a fairer voting system could transform our democracy & counter the dire threat of a Reform UK government elected on a minority of the vote

theguardian.comGreens suggest they will properly contest byelection in blow to BurnhamStatement follows speculation party would not field candidate in Makerfield or barely fight seat

The editorial cartoonist's pen is one of the sharpest tools in journalism, whittling issues down to basics for satire or rage. I'm proud to say that my long-ago colleague, Milt Priggee, is unafraid to shock with a tough point of view.

www.theguardian.com/football/202... Zampolli is hideous, corrupt, linked to Epstein, Melania etc and used ICE to deport the mother of one of his kids. So ideally suited to dealing with FIFA. BUT this needs bigger coverage by @theguardian.com @jonathanliew.bsky.social @barneyronay.bsky.social

How the fuck can David Lammy be friends with this deeply unpleasant person? For this person to be Deputy Prime Minister shows that @labouruk.bsky.social stands for nothing more than self survival.

This is why Russia is still fighting, why the war continues and why people are dying: Because Trump and Vance encouraged Putin to believe he could win

Trump has apparently decided that being linked to a sex-trafficker and being accused of rape, while bad enough to make him want to start a war to distract from it, is not as bad as being seen as a genocidal maniac and so he has decided, via his wife, to change the subject back to the former scandal.

Melania Trump: The lies linking me with Jeffrey Epstein need to end today. I've never been friends with Epstein. I never had a relationship with Epstein or his accomplice, Maxwell. My email reply to Maxwell cannot be categorized as anything more than casual correspondence.

The US government has agreed to pay TotalEnergies $928 million to cancel its offshore wind leases and redirect the money to oil and gas instead. This is happening during the worst global energy crisis (per IEA) in history and as rising prices put huge pressure on households and businesses.
