Hey, uh, @fasterthanli.me - am I holding it wrong, or is it normal for the Tracey daemon to spawn a horde of subprocesses (and leave zombie children around) when there's a fair amount of e.g. source code edits that trigger rescans?

If you use agents to do work for you, something like this *will* eventually happen, no matter what kind of guardrails you try putting in place. Run them in sandboxes, network-isolate them, and keep backups, yo.

Today I was discussing Executive Dysfunction with some folks, and how in our household we call it "The Sits" I decided to make an info poster. It's based on my personal experience with it. Yes, the person is me 😆 #neurodivergent #memes #executivedysfunction

The most dangerous thing about AI is not that the machines might one day think. It is that we are being trained, by men with enormous financial gains riding on our acquiescence, to stop thinking for ourselves.

Boss asked me to learn to use Claude, and I've figured out why women aren't adopting AI at the same rate as men: it takes my instructions, uses "logic" to determine that I'm wrong, and give me an incorrect answer to a question I didn't ask. And I don't need machines to replace human male colleagues.

Sorry to hear about Jeff Bezos's rocket exploding prematurely. A good technique to prevent that from happening is to try thinking about something you find totally unarousing or even repulsive, like giving workers a living wage or paying a fair share of taxes.

FluidVoice and this little 8BitDo micro is a pretty nice productivity hack - fully remappable to send keyboard combos when in Bluetooth HID mode, no custom drivers or apps required (apart from android app to configure key remapping). Setting it up was a nice little Sunday project 🤓

Today I Learned that Guns N Roses' version of Live And Let Die is a cover... In related news, Netflix now has the James Bond collection, and I'm binging it.

I'm convinced AI is our generation's radium - a discovery with genuinely useful applications in specific, controlled circumstances that we stupidly put in everything from kid's toys to toothpaste until we realised the harm far too late where future generations will ask if we were out of our minds.

inspired by CLAUDE.md, I’ve started putting markdown files named after coworkers into work code repos so I can remind them to stop doing shit to the codebase that annoys me for some reason they’re all mad at me now, which means ill be adding commands to JEREMY.md for an attitude adjustment

In the app this is in ☰ > Settings > Content and media I’d recommend turning all toggles off

I didn't watch Good's murder. I accidentally watched this apparent murder and I wish I hadn't. Turn off autoplay if you have it on, don't click or tap.

Oh, so you shouldn't run your main file storage on the same hardware for ~13 years, especially with non-ECC memory, bog-standard consumer hardware? And you ought to run a filesystem with data integrity checks? Really?!

Startede dagen med at smide forkert laptop i tasken, og kom 10min for sent til første review-fællesmøde i den nye teamstruktur, med deltagelse af folk pænt oppe i organisationshierarkiet... Det' mandag i dag, right?

Being the first external party to use a dataset that hasn't been documented, and implementing a feature based on a requirements documentation that was written without access to said dataset has been... Interesting 🫠

@tastapod.com thanks for doing the full Knuth quote - I often find people only parroting the middle part use it as an excuse for premature pessimisation, rather than finding the balance of what makes sense now, with improvement when metrics show the need 😉
