Lula winning is great for the planet, great for Brazil, and great for people who aren't revanchist assholes everywhere in the world, but let's not forget that it's also going to make some of the worst people on Earth extremely sad and mad. We should enjoy that, as a little treat.

This El Niño has a unique flavor — sea surface temperatures are most anomalously warm in the far eastern equatorial Pacific. That shifts the location of tropical thunderstorms, which influences the jet stream over the U.S. The most recent east Pacific-based El Niño "smacked" California. My latest:

sfchronicle.comThis new El Niño looks like past ones that soaked California — here’s the key detailThe potentially record El Niño developing in the Pacific shares an important geographic feature with two prior very strong El Niños that drenched California.

every picture of Lorenzo makes it so obvious he’s someone’s father, if that makes sense? like every picture I feel like my friend is showing me their dad who is proud of his new hat, or his birthday cake, and that’s not a necessary predicate to viewing his murder as tragedy, obviously, but dear god

ICE fatally shot Lorenzo Salgado Araujo during a Houston enforcement operation. His family says he was a hardworking father on his way to work. This is a deadly pattern at DHS: no transparency, no oversight, no accountability. We demand an independent investigation.

nothing to see here, just right wing streamers being protected by feds moments after those feds were shooting less-lethal munitions at protesters.

Protestors finally caught on to Cam Higby openly boasting about getting them doxxed & hit with federal charges. Supposedly stole his phone, busted his mics. Crowd pressed him *& his armed security* off the block. He & fellow propagandist Nick Sortor were taken behind DHS lines. via Mercado Media

Portland bar and club managers talk about "It" happening like medieval Europeans talked about Prester John. Times are bleak now, lads, but one elderly man's failing organs are all that stand between us and 150 million Americans launching a drinking binge.

the push for impeachment needs to continue. trump’s body count grows every single day lawmakers allow him to stay in power. this is no way to live and this is no way to die.

If nothing else, today shows just how completely disenfranchised the entire American public has become. We shouldn’t have to sit back and just HOPE that someone steps in for us. When we eventually right this ship, we need to ensure that no one is ever left feeling as powerless as we all did today.

Like even if this all ends without an escalation from the present level of bloodshed Trump and his administration should be held accountable for the threat alone. Making this threat, on its own, is a crime against humanity.

This likely ICE flight operated by Journey Aviation left ICE hub Mesa, AZ, and landed in Myanmar a few hours ago. This would be the first Myanmar deportation I’m aware of since last April. The last group was immediately detained; some were tortured. Also stopped in Thailand, now airborne.

one of the videos from the occupation that i find most haunting is the one from the woman in west stp who had a doordasher run into her home & refused to give her up. specifically, when an ICE thug says "you don't even know her" in tones of baffled indignation. they straight up do not get it.

Rev Black (the priest ICE shot in the head) also pitched turning these camps into community spaces or multilingual schools and childcare facilities. One day we will not only reverse every hate-filled policy of our country, but we will turn the sites of their evil into monuments to community.

This is a legitimately great idea. Turn every ICE concentration camp into a museum of their crimes and the people who fought against them.

now I'm sure they're going to claim this was an accident. a sad consequence of where the school was located. this is nonsense. unless proven otherwise you should assume those children were targeted maliciously.

I don’t really trust anyone on the left who blames Israel for American military aggression. like if you think ISRAELI interests are inside the nesting doll of U.S. violence and not the other way around u either need to read more or are buying into antisemitic tropes and it’s probably both

Just how bad things can be, and how much worse they can get, has never been lost on me. It's why I have so little patience for "it can't get any worse, this country is the devil" type of reasoning. If you think this is as bad as it gets, you haven't explored widely enough.

By the end of 2026 we will not have the same govt in power over the same unified territory it is now. Dunno if it'll be dissolution, the good thing happening, revolution, counter coup, civil war or what. But this governmental structure and state aparatus is on a clock
