It's really damning. The accusations are numerous and well-supported. But I was really struck by the descriptions of Trump's behavior -- the name dropping, strong-arming, and attempts to buy off silence. His gross rivalry with Epstein. It's all so familiar. It's shit he's been doing his entire life.
Beyond disgusted by even more rape allegations against the President of the United States.
"In total, more than 25 different women...have independently accused Donald Trump of rape, sexual assault, or other sexual misconduct."

I do think when historians look back the period the exact moment where it flipped and started going the other way won’t be anything any politician did but my Minneapolis neighbors weathering the worst of the regime in the streets, rallying together, fighting back, and winning
Two can play at the crazy Slavic uncle game! Ukraine as the descendant of Kyvian Rus should take over all of Russia's territory and incorporate it into the EU as way of finally casting off the Mongol yoke.
Russian President Vladimir Putin cited genetics to declare that Russians and Ukrainians are “one people” and reiterated his claim to Ukrainian territory, saying: “I think that it is not their territory but the historical territory of Russia.”
If this doesn't cause Dems to have some serious introspection when it comes to the foreign money floating around in our politics and maybe extirpating it, I don't know what will
Can you recall the faux outrage that Biden let the Ukrainian military use cluster munitions on the battlefield?
It stands in contrast to the silence that we use them on civilians.
Russia struck Kyiv’s historic center overnight with an Iskander ballistic missile carrying a K5 cluster warhead. Its 58 submunitions explode in midair across a 400×400m area.
A nice addition to the humanitarian aid package – ensuring that as many people as possible receive their share ✨
To-do list for SD Mayor Pete and DSD Uncle Frank (and the transition team):
- at 1201 rip down the stupid fucking sign, regardless of whether Congress has officially changed the name (not looking good for the 27 NDAA lol)
- at 1202 issue orders to rename all the confederate bases back*
A whole generation of policymakers is going to have to relearn how the creation of the welfare state was not some grand act of generosity (one of its architects was Bismarck FGS) but rather a crucial means to ensure social stability and state legitimacy that democracies and markets need to function
Just disgusting: Sen Elissa Slotkin made routine comments about the need for a Dem Congress to impose real accountability on the Trump administration, especially mid-tier enablers, and MAGA ginned up a two-minute hate over it.
But she's 100% correct.

What was the best case scenario for Tommy Podcast there? Bigotry leads to that idiotic question but bigotry also leads to underestimating your opponent to such a degree that you'd serve up such a fat hanging curve that gets people asking if you're maybe a DSA plant
The Lindsey Graham Act would have imposed significant new sanctions on Russia from 18 October, but allowed the President to issue waivers.
He just did.
To avoid screaming, I went through every provision explaining them and indicating which he waived.
Spoiler: All the ones that did anything.
AFAIK, Playmobil figures are not anatomically correct and can not help to solve the really important open questions😉

A trade ship heading for Troy or Minoan Crete sank with a cargo of storage jars. Residue tests will show what they contained c. 4,700 years ago!

A new documentary on the archaeology of Great Zimbabwe airs tonight on PBS. I interviewed the lead archaeologist, Shadreck Chirikure, and if you click through, you can watch an exclusive clip showing the team's discovery of Longquan celadon from eastern China. 🧪🏺
A couple of days after the 2024 US elections I posted a thread on Twitter on what a Trump administration policy on Ukraine and Russia was likely to be. What they're doing now is appalling, but it shouldn't be a surprise.
This was my last straw too. One of his myriad Great Replacement/white supremacist tweets crossed my feed and I thought: “How the hell can I justify donating free labor that helps increase this guy’s wealth & relevance even infinitessimally?”
Excerpts from Michael Lewis on DOGE (Guardian article).
1. Gavin Kliger, white nationalist, refused to shake hands with the Black IRS staffer who briefed him on privacy issues. Or pay attention.
Kliger now has a defense start-up valued at 1.4B thanks to DOGE.

The backstory: Ukrainian drones struck a Yandex supercomputer facility in Vladimir, taking it out. Suddenly, bot activity in US social media fell by 49%, confirming suspicions that this was the site of a massive Russian influence operation targeting US social media—mostly targeting MAGA.
For those playing along at home:
To give the appearance of action on the impacts of his humiliating blunder on the world stage, the President of the United States is making a humiliating blunder on the world stage by bailing the Russian president out of a humiliating blunder on the world stage.
The Trump-Putin fuel deal is already the subject of memes in the Russian blogosphere, such as this one mimicking Stalinist propaganda. (The joke here is that during World War II, the US provided the USSR with millions of tons of fuel – now, they say, the situation is reversed.)
Trump's Ohio rally crowd chanted: "Deport! Deport!" But don't overlook this: New NYT poll finds Trump underwater *on immigration* even in Ohio, which he carried by double digits.
MAGA sadists are yelling in a shrinking bubble.

You can’t grow a 20-year officer in less than 20 years. The languages, the networks, the judgment that comes from having been wrong downrange and living with it are gone, and no hiring surge brings them back.
I spoke with @jackmurphyrgr.bsky.social at @theteamhouse.bsky.social about all of it.
"I don’t care about the culture war. I care about the actual war that we’re actually in, that we’re losing." @gravitysra1nbow.bsky.social has had it with SecDef
People don't understand there doesn't exist a binary Strait open/closed which roughly means US wins/Iran loses or Iran wins and US loses. Just as they don't understand US may have opened the strait with massive effort and it remains difficult for world economies still.
So in a world where no strategic can close the deal with an invasion, you inevitably get endemic raiding strategies that are less costly but also because they are less costly, there are fewer reasons to end them. So it’s not just Iran. It’s just the new character of war. There aren’t any closers.
David Quammen's essay in The New York Times today closes with this paragraph. It's both a scientific falsehood, and an incredibly dangerous narrative. If you're willing to give me five minutes of your time, I'd like to explain why.
NYT has now independently corroborated all the major allegations against Susan Collins in the ProPublica report, including that investigators were prepared to move against her and then Trump intervened to shut it down. This put Trump in a position of exceptional and extortionate leverage over her.
15/ ProPublica is revealing the existence of the case for the first time. We reviewed a trove of evidence gathered by the FBI and thousands of pages of legal records, and have independently corroborated much of Kao’s account.
This is the first piece of an ongoing series:
I'm back, I missed you all.

why do i feel weird today?
If only the media had as much interest in the world's richest person, the primary funder of the Republican Party, who spoke at Trump's Inauguration and gave a Sieg Heil, once again declaring his belief "white solidarity is the only way to survive" as they do some Twitch streamer.
For a certain kind of white man, there is no fear more primal than the fear that the people they have abused will gain power and treat them the same way.
Realizing the extent to which this is true wildly changed my opinions about how to deal with Trumpism, since they're never going to be satisfied unless they're actively dominating everyone else. You can't give them some concessions and go back to the status quo: they're reactionary revolutionaries.

i really cannot maintain enough that my current theory of donald trump is that he is utterly gripped by the terror of death, and is desperately attempting to leave some mark on the world that history cannot erase--this is the point of the wars, the annexation threats, the dc vandalism
The problem with this isn’t so much the name itself, as what it says about the obsequious willingness of so many people to cater to the petulant impulses of one man. What would it actually take for them to say “no”? Do I even want to find out?
