Then during the third reconciliation of the last of the Meketrex supplicants, they chose a new form for him, that of a giant Sloar! Many Shubs and Zuuls knew what it was to be roasted in the depths of a Sloar that day, I can tell you.

RFK Jr doesn't believe in germs, it's possible he doesn't believe parasites exist either. He knows brain worms are real though.

A growing outbreak of the Cyclospora parasite, which causes severe diarrhea, has sickened more than 1,200 people across the U.S. Experts say the true number is much higher. In March 2025, RFK Jr. dissolved the CDC’s Division of Parasitic Diseases and Malaria, which monitored parasitic diseases

President Trump unveiled a refurbished jet given to him by Qatar to use as Air Force One, in violation of the foreign emoluments clause of the U.S. Constitution. Editors at @apnews.com, numbed by a decade of emolumental corruption, failed to identify it as public corruption to Americans & the world.

I've pulled two drowning children from the water in my many decades on this earth. They both acted *exactly* like this article describes. No screaming, no wild waving, just there one second and gone the next.

Trish Greenhalgh@trishgreenhalgh.bsky.social

Every summer I repost this article on how to spot drowning. Please read it and pass on. In the last few years I’ve had SIX messages from people who saved a kid’s life after clicking on the link from my feed. slate.com/technology/2...

So... He's mad that he started a war that pushed Iran to close the straight, agreed to a plan that lets Iran charge a toll on every passing boat, and his solution is to blockade the straight and chase down every ship that paid the toll? Why not just end the pointless war?

Not that I expect him to know this, but a blockade is an act of war

When government agents impersonate missing‑person investigators to snatch a college student from her dorm, that’s not “enforcement.” It’s state‑sponsored deceit. It’s the playbook of regimes we condemn. And it should terrify anyone who cares about democracy and the rule of law.

Clearly written (and rehearsed/validated!) instructions on how to access your password vaults should be a key component of a will. Ensure they are reachable without waiting for legal hoops to clear—in a safe in your home, for example.

A nice thread in which an actual expert patiently explains why the Secretary of Health and Human Service is not simply a liar, but an especially stupid one.

Robert F. Kennedy Jr. has stated that the 1918 flu pandemic was caused by a lab virus from vaccine research, a defective influenza vaccine. Let’s analyze what a lie this is. First, in 1918, 107 years ago, virology was in its infancy

Guards began beating him. Beat him until he bled. Knocked his face into the wall, broke all his teeth. No access to outdoors, no contact with relatives. Now describing US knowledge of CECOT's torture practices, followed by footage of Trump praising those practices.

One one hand, those Epstein File retractions are getting out of control! On the other hand, can we totally black out everywhere Trump appears? Everywhere? Please?

This paper contains some good arguments about an issue that concerns me a lot when I hear my colleagues talking about LLM use in developing their research: Whose ideas are you presenting as your own? (Though the fatalist argument the authors make at the end of paper is disappointing/bizarre.)

It’s good to see papers start to address LLMs as structural plagiarism — provenance, more hidden than the original words or training data. www.nature.com/articles/s42...
