i am inviting anyone from a legacy media organization to explain to me why the house judiciary dems report on trump’s epstein’s ties and multiple allegations of rape isn’t worthy of extensively reporting on. i’m serious. i want to understand.

cool, cool

i know i’m late to The Diplomat but it was diabolical to cast the UK PM from that one episode of Black Mirror

mulder’s putting that shit on immediately Name a non-LotR character who is a cool and good person but would nevertheless set land speed records for getting fucked up by The One Ring

tim sweeney's brain melting aside i still can't believe anyone posts these hideous-looking AI comics thinking they look good. these people are not ensouled

I can't believe he's still at it, it's been days

something i’m coming to accept about myself is if i say some shit like “i’m not tired, i might stay up a little later tonight,” that means i’m going to fall asleep on the couch in the next 10 minutes

Why waste time trying to explain the concept of a rightward drift in the Overton Window when you could just show someone a chart of when my cats think they should get dinner vs. when they do get dinner over time

Online discourse pits us against each other so we don't pay attention to billionaires getting richer while dismantling careers and meddling in media. Every idiot who cheers this on will earn NOTHING but a temporary revenue boost. Your gas is still too expensive. Your hardware is still too pricy.

EA is going private under PIF and Jared Kushner's ownership. Wilson will probably make even more money while thousands of people look for work. This isn't a win for anyone except the fat cats who want us to remain angry at each other online so we don't pay attention to their strip mining.

EA CEO Andrew Wilson was chastised by the board for his exorbitant pay back in 2020 ($39 million). He made more than $10 million less in both 2022 and 2023, but received a $38 million payout in 2026.

EA executives ran BioWare into the ground. The Dragon Age team was forced to try to inject live-service elements into Veilguard, which delayed production and ultimately damaged the final product.

big era for buying companies full of people who are good at making things together, destroying their ability to do that, and then shutting them down

Some people believe they’re the only ones with interiority and that everyone else can’t be trusted to reach conclusions on their own, and social media allows that belief to be validated by surfacing the worst reads on a situation or a piece of art because doing so drives engagement. It’s a bad scene

The ability to handle ambiguity in life and art is a sign of maturity and I am so bothered by how many people don’t seem to trust other people to be able to process these things. It’s the same impulse that leads to yelling at headlines for not explicitly saying something is bad.

also i bought mohair for my second knitting project and i am NERVOUS but the yarn store lady said she believes in me, so

Steam Next Fest started with ~50 hand-picked games that had missed their opportunity to demo at GDC bc of COVID. it scaled well for a while and was certainly more impactful than we anticipated at the time, but now the scale of AI slop is untenable. who is still being served by this? *8000* games?

obviously this sucks for developers trying to get eyes on their games, but what does a player have to be excited about here? have fun wading through thousands of games Steam’s never even heard of? “we don’t even know what we’re showing you, go nuts”?

Business Insider confirms it: Amazon has warehouses of GPUs that can’t be installed, and is buying them so far in advance that a supply chain team said they “didn’t have a clear forecasted path” to installing them. www.businessinsider.com/amazon-220-b...

The whole “I adapted to new technologies! I built things 15 years ago!” isn’t the winning point you think it is. Your skills can atrophy. Money WILL lead you to become out of touch. Your hobbyist-level code contributions pale in comparison to what your engineers toil over today.

there is a kind of collective suicidal exhaustion in the 70+ crowd as though the unspoken wish is to beat the end of civilization by being entombed alive with their family and possessions to all die together, the friction of living finally at an end, suburban pharoahood culminated

“I’m old. I’ve paid my home off,” said Ray Warner, a 72-year-old Akron resident. “Why would I pay property tax?” Across the country, homeowners are asking the same question and revolting against property taxes at a scale not seen in a half century.

This “core team” rhetoric is getting really weird. Games that take hundreds of people to make take hundreds of people to make. Just say it! We’re reinventing “QA is in another building and aren’t real devs” from first principles

Star Wars: Galactic Racer was made by a core team of 75 people. "What we wanted to do was keep that core small, smaller than perhaps you might have done in the past, and scale capacity and capability with what we call distributed development." https://bit.ly/4hT02qg

Slavery was and is a real thing that has brutalized hundreds of millions of people over the course of human history, if someone tells me a fucking chatbot is enslaved I'm immediately throwing hands. It's not cute, it's not intriguing, it's an insult to real people who suffered and suffer now.
