This is utterly horrific. "Greene-Placentia struggled to open her eyes. She felt a sharp pain below her waist. The attacker was pulling his penis out of her. She heard him mumble something like, '-ic bitch, not a very good fuck,' which her mind filled in as 'Democratic bitch,' she recalled."

Republicans are constantly getting busted for abusing children because they believe in it, ideologically. Their electorate votes for child abuse, their legislation enables child abuse, their electeds commit and flaunt their child abuse. Child abuse is as central to the right as tax cuts and racism.
Palm Beach County Clerk of Courts Mike Caruso, suspended after his arrest on allegations he molested a young child, said he still “intend[s] to win” the November election. And the Palm Beach County Republican Party endorsed him today. Via @miamiherald.com

It’s confusing that @theatlantic.com described this man as a “a lifelong Democrat who had voted for Trump for the first time in 2024” who when these are some of his very easily findable FB posts:
A Haitian man legally immigrated to Ohio, then was given an ankle monitor bc Trump withdrew his status. He threw himself in front of truck. The trucker, who voted for Trump, is haunted. “Pierre was doing what he was supposed to do. We did not do right by him.” www.theatlantic.com/politics/202...

One of these was literally a Trump 2024 campaign ad. The only difference is that it now says "paid for by the US government"
JD Vance defends Trump's taxpayer-funded propaganda videos: "If you look at the message of those advertisements, they are not partisan, it's not like we're advocating for a particular candidate"

my favorite part of reporting this out was the trump White House told us our reporting on the president privately calling them the “midterm ads” is “false” (it’s not), but they didn’t even bother denying — and yes we put it to them plainly and in bullet point form in the comment request — that…

Any candidate who accepts Musk's money will be repeatedly asked if they think it's a political liability to partner with an open bigot—blatantly racist, unambiguously sexist, egregiously antisemitic, you can pick one of many, many available examples—and if they'll give the money back, right? Right?
Elon Musk is expected to spend upward of $100 million to boost Republicans in the the midterm elections.

I kept my subscription mostly because I appreciated their AI coverage. But oh well. I will not give anyone money who launders Rahm Emanuel's nightmarish reign in Chicago. I was in the streets over and over protesting the violence and austerity that man oversaw. He CANNOT be president.

If you are a paid @rollingstone.com subscriber like me, I invite you to join me in unsubscribing. They are doing PR for Rahm Emanuel. I would rather rip off a fingernail than give them another dime. Canceled af.
Emanuel has served as a top Democrat in the House, White House chief of staff, mayor of the country’s third-largest city, and ambassador to Japan. Now, closing in on 67, Emanuel is considering another campaign — this time for president. Read: www.rollingstone.com/politics/pol...

it is in fact just the media, which has devoted more attention to this than it has to the fact that multiple republican lawmakers are dealing with “we hired nazis” scandals and that the “we hired nazis” problem extends to the white house
Tur: It’s not just the media, and I reject that framing. 6 in 10 Americans don’t know who he is. I’m not saying he’s the most important person in the world, but...is it worth losing votes you need to win? AES: 10 in 10 Americans agree that they can’t afford the things that they need in their lives.

Just to be clear, Social Security is not accounting fraud (obviously). Its structure has to be adjusted over time for changing demographics, of course, but it's a completely sustainable approach to income security for the elderly.
The “head of strategic futures” at OpenAI just went on an unhinged rant against social security sometimes I feel like these tech companies are actively trying to alienate as many normal people as possible
