There are only two explanations for the NYT's habit of presenting GOP operatives and donors as true swing voters:
1. Their reporters and editors are somehow incapable of running a simple Google searches, showing just a staggering level of journalistic incompetence
2. They want to the GOP to win
Today I wrote about Abdul El Sayed's encounter with a Christian fascist named "Tommy," and the fine art of digging up the shameful things fascists bury under their accusations, exposing them for what they are, and then burying their lies in the hole left behind.

To be clear: what he means is that loyalty to a man is more important than loyalty to the law. Trump is the law. His word is the law. Whatever demented, deranged and damaged thing he says is the law.
Trump's Attorney General Todd Blanche: There was this misperception that there's this 'separation' and 'independence' between the Department of Justice and the White House and everybody likes to accuse me of not suffering from independence. I don't. I work for President Trump.
To-do list for SD Mayor Pete and DSD Uncle Frank (and the transition team):
- at 1201 rip down the stupid fucking sign, regardless of whether Congress has officially changed the name (not looking good for the 27 NDAA lol)
- at 1202 issue orders to rename all the confederate bases back*
Team Paxton appears to have sent out fake mailers to Texas voters impersonating a trans student group and claiming to want to help kids secretly transition.
The actual group said they had nothing to do with it, despite the mailers copying their aesthetic, and the address traces to a random UPS box.
This has been the fundamental mechanism through which political media operates my entire life. The right makes a bunch of noise about a fake scandal, the mainstream media "covers the controversy," & normie voters get the vague impression that Dems are constantly involved in scandal.
This awful saga is a good glimpse into how MAGA gets propaganda laundered into mainstream discourse by making just enough noise to get news outlets to treat their outrage as a "controversy," which then requires even-handed treatement of both sides' stances:

JD - I've got 15 free minutes before my son's hockey practice ends, so let me see how many of Trump's enrichment schemes you didn't see that I can remind you of.
1/ First one is easy: Trump has executed over 30,000 stock trades, many on inside information, netting him millions.
There will be a lot of equivocating about all the times search warrants have been executed on members of Congress for corruption investigations and the like, and it can't be stressed enough in how many ways HSI raiding Ilhan Omar is extremely not like that.
Not only should brooks and others shut up. But Ossoff is the best example in the country of a Democrat playing dominance politics and using it to control the whole terms of his race.
"You hired half the Third Reich to staff your office ... If John Lewis were marching today, Mike Collins would be grabbing a billy club" -- here's a supercut of Jon Ossoff SMASHING Mike Collins during tonight's debate
It's already illegal. Congress banned it near-unanimously in 2022. That law allows the ban to be lifted only if Russia withdraws from Ukraine. He's simply breaking the law that's already on the books.
Republican US Rep Brian Fitzgerald tweets that he will introduce a bill to block purchases of Russian oil. Don Bacon (R-Neb) tweets that he will co-sponsor. Obviously this won’t happen during campaigning recess (and Trump could veto anyway) but interesting push-back on Trump.
Ossoff is one of the very few people adequately channeling Evelyn Normielib these days
the base doesn't want to hear entreaties to our better natures, they don't want to go high while the other side goes low, they want someone to come on the TV and go "these people are garbage"
he's good at it
Figuring out why Ossoff is so effective is an interesting task.
I think he's mastering a kind of stern dignity that is uniquely compelling in contrast to the clownish cruelty of the other side.
I think the other person who's kind of hit on the same thing is AOC, though in a different register
I'm not naive enough to actually believe this will happen, but Democrats could be preparing, right now, lists of impeachment charges against (at a bare minimum) Hegseth, Kennedy, Mullin, Patel, Blanche, & Trump, as well as Bondi, Bovino, & Noem (still worth doing!) that rely purely on public facts,
Ossoff: The money that they took from you when they slashed Medicaid and defunded hospitals and nursing homes—They’re taking that money to buy corrupt, taxpayer-funded political ads on national television to try to promote the failed and broken president…
Fun fact: the U.S. House can sue a sitting president with a simple majority vote.
If the Democrats retake the chamber, they should do more than just "investigate" Trump's corruption.
They should sue him in federal court for the illegal ballroom, Qatari jet, and more.
Raskin made a holy shit observation on MS Now this afternoon: Since taking office, Trump has made a million dollars per hour for himself.
Every hour, he has made more than twice the president’s annual salary.
Sen. Susan Collins helped steer millions in federal defense contracts to Navatek, whose CEO illegally funneled thousands of dollars to her campaign.
The FBI sought to launch a probe and was eyeing Collins and other lawmakers.
Then Trump gutted the unit in charge. THREAD 🧵
I just honestly can't get over that Save Women Sports, an anti-trans group could only find five trans athletes competing K through 12.
Five. The NCAA president testified a year and a half ago or so that there were less than 10 college level trans athletes. What the fuck are we doing, people
This video was filmed in Palestine.
My heart struggles to comprehend such cruelty and the heartbreaking disregard for human life. No human being should have to endure this.
Democratic strategists: Ahhh! What's the right message!!?? Where do we moderate!?!?
Jon Ossoff: This administration is horrible. I hate these people. We should put them in jail. I'm pissed
Voters: This guy is cool
Strategists: I can't figure it out!!!!!
Democrats should make a statement putting everyone on notice that the demolition of the Kennedy Center would be an illegal act, and they will now or eventually hold any board members who approve it, and any contractors who commit it, criminally responsible.
footage is making the rounds on Facebook of a canvasser wearing a Stronger Maine shirt (a super PAC that supports Susan Collins) stealing a package yesterday
The fact that Musk himself is sponsoring so many of the anti-trans ads this cycle presents a pretty golden opportunity for Dems to point out that of course the guy who literally wants to build a gas-powered data center in your backyard wants this election to be about trans people.
In Massachusetts, we have a responsibility to protect the vulnerable and stand up for those who need it. We don’t throw trans kids under the bus for political points. We protect them—and all of our neighbors—because trans rights are human rights.
attacking trans people hurts dem politicians and that take is missing from this whole news cycle. dems attacking trans people makes it more likely you will lose, defending trans people makes it more likely they win
I want democrats to win so they need to defend trans people
A thread on 10 amazing @runforsomething.net candidates in red-to-blue races this cycle. Every one of them is running for a seat Republicans hold right now, and every one is on the November ballot. 🧵
Before we talk why John Fetterman should resign, let me start by noting that if Fetterman goes, then Democratic Gov. Josh Shapiro per Pennsylvania law will be the one picking the Senator to replace him until there is a special election. That
This “game” on the White House website, a version of Snake where you play as a white man in a suit and you run around picking up identifiably black, Asian, and Latino men and putting them in orange jumpsuits, might be the most openly white supremacist thing I’ve ever seen the US government produce
“Think I give a damn about what this Piker guy is saying when the richest Nazi the world has ever seen is bankrolling the destruction of America via the Republican Party?”
— how every Dem should answer questions about Hasan Piker
just talk about musk the way republicans would if he was a democrat
a bigoted antisemitic weird foreign billionaire with a weird breeding fetish and a nazi pedo chatbot is funding the republican party.
if republicans don't denounce, we know they are pro-nazi pedo bot and the voters should know.
I wrote this piece a few hours ago about how Musk bears responsibility for today's GOP and how they, in turn, must be held responsible for his extremism, but the dollar figures are already out of date.
A hateful bigot is funding the Republican midterm campaign.
Seems sorta like a big deal?
Republicans' largest donor (by far) is hosting a robust debate on his platform about whether Jews are white. Corporate Media will ask precisely 0 Republicans about their largest donor's all-consuming misogyny, xenophobia, antisemitism, he will instead by referred to as a visionary industrialist.
every single day elon musk says or endorses stuff on x dot com that is worse than any of the quotes they've pulled up for hasan piker and he will be the single biggest political donor in the entire country, supporting republicans up and down the ballot
somehow none of them are asked about it
Lutnick: "The way the president is playing Iran -- there haven't been American deaths, it's really just an economic choke-out ... " (There have been 18 American deaths!)
