Looking at the most recent stats, there were over 18k people in all Home Office accommodation from either Afghanistan or Iran. Large numbers of people are not being returned to either country anytime soon. Granting leave to that group would cover around 90% of the hotel population.

Right wing views: "I don't like forriners or paying taxes." Left wing views: "I think the government should pay all my health/care costs and my pension, collect my rubbish and repair the roads." All for me and nowt for thee, in other words.
