Sam Altman said people are just gonna have to die in order to implement AI. In the very same week, Anthropic claimed it’s a human rights violation to be mean to the computer. These people need to be held accountable. They think lines of code are a person with rights but living people are debris.
Over the past year, Anthropic has repeatedly flirted with the idea that its AI models could be conscious in some way. In February, Anthropic CEO Dario Amodei said on a podcast, “We don’t know if the models are conscious.”

FurAffinity (a furry focused online art gallery) is looking for funding after refusing to comply with advertiser demands. And oh boy are some of those advertiser demands are pretty ridiculous.

On top of radio stations servicing regional demographics, meaning what's on the pop station in L.A. will be very different to the pop station in Boise, we have to accept that streaming has split pop culture into a million fractals.
I've seen a few articles about how people have never heard Ella Langley's "Choosin' Texas," which is on track to be the biggest song of the year, and it's been a nice reminder of how the monoculture is dead. Here in rural Idaho, it's been playing on the radio non-stop for months.

I'm suddenly realizing that nothing will end up making kids more technically savvy than they already often are compared to whatever generation that preceded them (with rare exception,) than saying "you can't go on ready-made social media." They will vibe, if not manually, code a parallel internet.
Some NPR podcasts started getting mysterious comments on Spotify. They made no sense to the staff reading them – until someone from a younger generation cracked the code. Hear the story: link.podtrac.com/78g1b584

The Facial Expressions of Tethys by artist Julius von Bismarck. A suspended high-sea buoy that moves in real time. Sensors on a twin buoy out in the Atlantic Ocean send live satellite data to motors inside the museum. This makes the indoor buoy copy the exact, real-time movements of the ocean waves.
