the big difference here is that Survivor is more of an open-world thing which changes all the difficulty and level design and also just takes so much fucking time

Vibe coded programs are extremely dangerous. You have no idea wtf the code is made to do, and neither does the person distributing it. Like sure, it could infect your PC or create backdoors, but also memory leaks, render files unusable, brick it so you can't boot, anything Do not install them

Nash@radiodeadair.com

If you still have the Epic Games Launcher on your system, don't update it and get it the fuck off of your computer. There's no telling what damage it can do or what vibecoded landmines are waiting in it.

I wish I could do a little spec article or two so I could pay for Valor Mortis, Some Groceries, and Galactic Racer, but I am doing other work right now rip

Woman walks in and says "Uh, is a problem if I try to speak Huttese with an Aussie accent?" And I pull my butterfly knife out and say "Lady, it's gonna be a problem if you DON'T"

PSA: the steam description still starts with "Flock is a multiplayer co-op game", but it can be played solo if you like

Flock was such a pretty game, I'm so proud of what we managed to make. And would you look at that, it's half-off on Steam right now store.steampowered.com/app/1472930/...

“Games have stagnated” is a funny thing to finally say now when it’s now multiple years from Concord, a game that (as far as I know) was quite fun to play, got saddled with some of the worst aesthetics and marketing and sank like a stone

I just saw someone refer to Stephen Sommers’ Mummy film being “reclaimed” and uh…? when did we stop liking that movie so it would need reclamation? As far as I know that movie has been enjoyed as it is since it released

I have tried half a dozen times to write the “make the whole plane out of black box” fantasy story equivalent with deep dark underground scary dungeon places and despite my travails I still believe it can be done; metroidvania games are my evidence

it’s nice to know that, as a nerdy and insufferable kid with good standardized test scores, I could really have turned out a whole lot worse

Here is Eliezer Yudkowsky explaining (like a very normal person who absolutely does not have some kind of acute personality disorder) why, on the basis of his childhood test scores, he is a special genius uniquely qualified to change the world: web.archive.org/web/20010309...

Renaming a developer to “Halo Studios” and now being like “btw they aren’t making the next Halo” is just incredible

What is there to even say at this point? Literally everything I could think to say about this is something I’ve already said a half-dozen times in the past year alone. Game devs deserve better than the video game industry.

I know exactly what this work entails—I personally led the last effort to port old campaigns to the current version of Destiny 2, & wrote hundreds of pages of documentation about exactly how to do it again! Though I wish I could be there myself, I’m glad me & my team’s efforts are being put to use

Dragon Warrior (1989) It's the game that introduced me to the world of RPGs, which still remains my favorite genre, 37 years later.

First time Ive taken myself to the movies since The Disappearance of Haruhi Suzumiya like 15 years ago It was… okay! Tonally completely different from the trailer so my expectations were all out of whack For better or worse it was very RE in every way except for the dialogue? 5 bags of popcorn 🍿🍿🍿🍿🍿

Sincerely, if you're not enjoying video games like you used to, maybe it's time to step away and enjoy another hobby. Go read a comic book. Or a novel. Or watch a TV show. Play a sport. Just go do something else for a couple months. If you want to play again, you'll come back eventually.
