Amazing. First Orban, now Vucic. The Kremlin has unexpectedly lost two of its top allies in Europe…

The fact that billionaires can just buy an entire film distribution company that has been running and respected for over a decade to kill a documentary about their billionaire friend and nothing can be done about it is just Fuck man

I imagine the BC NDP might tell themselves they were very likely to lose whenever the election came and the polls six weeks ago were as good as they were ever going to be for them. But when you're in government you can do stuff. And the BC NDP just lost two years when they could have done stuff.

Mel Woods, always worth reading.

As a journalist, I’ve covered the anti-trans movement in Canada for almost a decade at this point. There’s a lot of room for change from here. My advice tonight is that we all slow down, take a big breath, and ready ourselves for the actual fights to come—and don’t panic over the imaginary ones.

Buckle up, friends. This is going to be a thread. A thread of thanksgiving, my gratitude for the people of the city and the province I love. The people who stood united to defeat a dark and narrow vision of Alberta's future. The people who stood in defence of Canada. 🧵 #Alberta #Canada #yeg

Welcome to Alberta where you can fly an Oilers flag at a school but not a Treaty, Metis, or Pride Flag. In the words of the Minister, this is to “remove politics and ideology” from the classroom. Nothing removes politics and ideology quite like dictating which flags are acceptable and which aren't.

Buzz-killing fact: my First Nation actually did this (and others have too). There was a secessionist group in our nation, and they tried to get attention to their cause and council passed a resolution shunning them, denying them benefits and denying them homes on rez.

In a very literal, black-and-white-text-of-the-constitution sense Quebec doesn't currently have a legal government or legislative assembly capable of making laws? Like neither the PQ nor the PLQ took the required oath to the Crown?

Dale Smith@journodale.bsky.social

I cannot wait for the courts to stomp on this unconstitutional farce and force them to swear the oath to the King. It's going to be so delicious.
