NEW: "Donald Trump was an active participant in Jeffrey Epstein’s sexual abuse of young women during the mid-to-late 1990s," per new House Judiciary Dem report. Report has new allegation that Trump raped a 24-year-old and then promised the victim a visa & NYU admission, demanding she stay quiet.

FWIW, Anthropic admits its current margins may not be representative. There's a bit of lucky timing here: big revenue growth while on the tail end of cheap compute contracted more than a year ago. Their future compute is... not so cheap. (1st pic their S-1, second are my graphics based on S-1.)

The unit economics here are frankly shocking they're so good. This is wildly stronger than I expected tbh.

This isn't hyperbole or a joke. Parents actually called the cops and got the black boy and his family removed and the league claimed they were trespassing because he was "putting on a show" and wasn't playing "fair."

They called the cops on this 3-year-old Black boy because he was kickin the white kids' ass on the soccer field.

man is this huge loss. RoW was filling in essential gaps in tech coverage, especially in the global context. (you can thank them for clarifying the digital stakes of the Brazilian election, for just one.) I hope they can continue in some form

Bolsonaro’s own goal on eve of vote: he mocks Lula. "Lula's response now is a firm outburst from someone who's always taken the joke in stride, but who, deep down, even as the most powerful man in the country, still feels the pain of the accident he suffered while working to avoid starving to death"

In-depth, on-the-ground reporting from the Buckeye State, where Vivek Ramaswamy, with the help of his own abhorrent ads, "could be the first Ohio Republican to lose a gubernatorial bid in 20 years" (fingers crossed) slate.com/news-and-pol...

Nitish Pahwa@nitishpahwa.com

last month, before That Ad made it to air, I went down to Ohio to figure out why Vivek Ramaswamy seemed to be struggling so much in his home state. the South Asians of Columbus, the bored students of OSU, and the hecklers of the Cleveland 'burbs all helped me understand: slate.com/news-and-pol...

Threading the needle of cultural identity and political controversy is a tough job. Great story. Love what @nitishpahwa.com did here. (That anecdote about the heckler who wanted *legal* immigrants to be rounded up by the military, though … Scary stuff.)

in my experience, people who were exposed to severe Christian homophobia in the 2000s were protected against "Just Asking Questions" transphobia of the 2010s precisely because we realize that it never stops at "these are human beings" and always goes to cruelty

Toby Buckle@polphilpod.bsky.social

every now & then someone on the anti-trans side will get cold feet about how openly ugly it's all getting—they want to keep the image of a nice, sensible centrist but it's never enough for them to get off the train

this is a very good piece of on-the-ground reporting about Ramaswamy's campaign - I've seen the Ohio Democratic Party fumble the ball too many times to think his flameout is a foregone conclusion, but regardless of the campaign's outcome, it's an illuminating look at the racial politics at work here

US garment workers helped pioneer multi-ethnic labor unions, which united people across racial, religious, gender, linguistic, and cultural divides. Also native-born citizens and immigrants. I think about that sometimes when I see people suggest such divides are unbridgeable.
