Been shouting this from the rooftops

Allison Gill@muellershewrote.com

Because I’m white, it was easy for me to conflate the solidarity we witnessed on the ground among New Yorkers on 9/11 for some kind of colorblind national unity in the months and years that followed. The reality is and was vastly different.

This morning in Biddeford, Maine, a 26-year-old man said goodbye to his wife and daughter and left for work. Moments later he was dead, shot in the head by ICE agents, the second man ICE has killed in six days. ICE is killing our neighbors. ICE cannot be reformed. Abolish ICE.

So, let's talk about Lindsey Graham's now open senate seat. South Carolina has elected only 2 men to this U.S. Senate seat since 1954. Over 70 years. Let that sink in for a minute. Before... Disneyland (1955) The Interstate Highway System (1956) The Beatles (1960) Barbie (1959) ZIP codes (1963)

The level of optimism from some of the greatest minds is…refreshing but also puzzling. I don’t think anything in history or the American psyche will prove this to be the case.

Small victory here but at least Trump will be remembered as the worst president.

thank god the red zone channel started running commercials. when it was commercial-free i'd get to 7:30 p.m., look at how i'd spent my day, and realize i'd burned through an entire sunday without growing or developing at all as a consumer. and if i'm not a consumer i'm nothing at all

This is Gus. His brother Walter is trying to teach him how to catch a treat. Sadly it may be a lost cause. Still 13/10 for both (IG: waltandgusthebernese)

Big sigh. Watch this. Can you see why the Yankees’ moment of silence, the lowered flags, the promise of the Presidential Medal of Freedom, feel like a gut punch to the very people he spent years targeting? No one wished death on this man, but what we’re seeing right now is too f*cking much.

Mina: Here’s a bunch of great people to follow if you love nfl content *half the recs don’t even use bluesky* Mina: why are you mad?? I can’t control them???

PSA, since it's the beginning of the season: Please stop whining to me about the online behavior of other people, companies, etc. I am the boss of one woman (me) and one dog (Lenny). -Mina Kimes Inc

It’s insane to me that after all this time there are prominent people that are still completely clueless about the world. There will not be a day where this is true. Know how I know? There is a more than insignificant amount of people that exist today that arent against the holocaust.

One Day Everyone Will Have Always Been Against This by Omar El Akkad is very much worth your time.

Every flashbang could instead be a meal for a poor kid. Every hotel room for a National Guardsman deployed to fire at our neighbors could house a homeless vet. Every "less-than-lethal" bullet pulled from a journalist's eye could be already needed healthcare for anyone else. All of this is a choice.

BREAKING: Federal agents in plain clothes and unmarked cars tried to snatch 1st graders from LA elementary schools—told staff they had “parental consent.” They lied. When pressed, they HID THEIR IDS. DHS admits they sent them. This wasn’t a welfare check. It was a test run for a police state.

Around the Horn began airing my sophomore year of high school. I’d watch it every day and even during basketball practice it was on the tv in the coaches office and I’d watch it until practice started. A touching and fitting finale to some of my most fondest memories. Thank you.
