"Arabs don't produce literature" man as one of the most acute victims of US imperialism the Arab World has produced some of the most trenchant works of art dealing with the absurdity of living under an illegitimate authoritarian regime and Americans dealing with MAGA would do well to learn from them

How is this brand of political engagement and advocacy entitled to any non-profit tax-exempt status? How is this is any difference than the messaging from a political organization or PAC? How the fuck how?

Having the pictures of these two men here really helps clarify things. After all, they clearly aren't worried about being kidnapped by ICE, shot by police, having their rights stripped away, or inequality.

Full Stop: the House of Representatives is NOT a continuing body. There is no Speaker of the House as of noon 1/3/27. If a notary public could issue the oath to Calvin Coolidge, that's certain fine enough for a Congressperson. Please loudly dismiss this nonsense before there's an Atlantic piece.

Part of why I don't like the AI-or-bust economy is the constant flopsweat of people on the news who say this HAS to work. Quit making everyone so anxious. Goddamn. If this is the next Google then why are you acting like this? I don't remember being told to buy an iPhone at gunpoint.

We are days away from Trump declaring that crops be watered with Gatorade and our entire political establishment going along with it.

Democrats are well positioned to inherit power thanks to disgust with Trump, but ultimately none of this is about what Dems did in response to Trump. They mostly capitulated and are benefiting from being the other party in a two party system, I don’t have any positive expectations for them.

this whole narrative that these giant companies are going to impose meaningful ethical guardrails on themselves in a country to corrupt to have working regulators is painful and clownish and I wish the press would cover it better

I am getting to the point where I want to punch the reporters there who don't back up their colleague when he tells a woman to "be quiet. Be quiet. Be quiet." It's enraging. I'm angrier at them than him.

when you realize that reporters like haberman care more about the process of the news and their role in it than the substance of what they cover, you see how broken the whole thing is

This is a completely insane interview in that the things they are discussing are so alarming that their heads should be exploding and yet they are calm. History will be unkind to those, like the NYT, who underreacted to Trump’s violation of the country. 1/2 www.nytimes.com/2026/07/31/o...
