Genuinely amazing that Rodgers, when grading on a scale for the GOP, is like a B tier candidate and he is still absolute ass

Meta rolling $95 billion stock offering, anthropic ipo with $80 billion loss announced. They are thinking it's time the public eats this shit sandwich they've whipped up

The punchline is there's no fucking way Iran will settle for a billion dollars. They have Trump and MBS's nutsacks in a vise. They can ask for anything. Football helmets full of cottage cheese. Naked pictures of Bea Arthur.

Diplomatic sources in the Gulf say Saudi Defense Minister Prince Khalid bin Salman traveled to Tehran to negotiate a ceasefire with the Houthis that would see Riyadh transfer $1 billion to the group through Iran. One source claims the minister even brought the money aboard a military aircraft.

Yes well it does require things like “empathy” and possessing a basic understanding that all of our lives are interconnected

I want to remind people about the Israeli elections. Eight Political Parties, 8! Every single one refuses to recognise a Palestinian State and claims Gaza and the West Bank as Israel, while refusing to leave Lebanon or Syria. All to be achieved with Ethnic Cleansing/Genocide.

Yacht owners will be living in a Far Side cartoon where the whales are all “Hold on, these things just crumple? Have they been like this the whole time?”

andré carrington@andrecarrington.bsky.social

I kind of love that both sperm whales and orca have got the memo about attacking yachts. Imagine the little antifa orca clique finding out somebody from a different *species* thinks your tactics are not only justified but commendable? And it's not humans? There's no way they're going to stop

The US is not about to have a free and fair election. The state has put its thumb on the scale to favor the ruling party in multiple ways. It's a mostly free, somewhat unfair election. But still one where the ruling party can be overwhelmed by numbers. Hence the term "competitive authoritarianism."

Asawin Suebsaeng@swin24.bsky.social

It is atrocious we have to operate under this constant credible and explicit threat from one political party, the fact we keep calling it a “free and fair election” needs some light revising

Hungary's recent election was less free and more unfair than the upcoming US midterms, and pro-democracy forces still won. Similar point about Serbia's election this weekend. In normal democracy terms, America is in bad shape. But in consolidated authoritarianism terms, we're looking pretty good.

Yet another entrenched authoritarian defeated yesterday in Serbia. As the United States approaches a critical midterm election, Serbia shows that we can win despite uphill authoritarian conditions. It can be done. It takes all of us, especially young people. Timothy Snyder
