Godbolt's Compiler Explorer now supports build systems (like cargo). This is so cool! I use Compiler Explorer quite a bit when playing with AArch32 stuff in Rust, to check I'm getting the kind of instructions I expected but I was limited to single files. Having cargo support is game changing.

[back in the day] Low level programmers: "It's all about optimizing every byte and every cycle, use as little RAM as you can" Other devs: "Nonsense. We have plenty of RAM" [today] Low level programmers: "Well well well"

In case you missed it, today is Bevy's 6th Birthday too! bevy.org/news/bevys-s... I'm really proud of what we've accomplished, and I'm hopeful that the policy changes that have consumed much of my past weeks lay the foundation for a bright, kind future for many years to come <3

bevy.orgBevy's Sixth BirthdayHey! @cart here (Bevy's creator and Project Lead). It is crazy to say it, but Bevy is six years old now! As is tradition, I will take this as a chance…

Testing the code of a newly written HAL is an essential but tedious, not to mention recurring, part of our work; so Vivian and Tamme developed a PoC for a universal test suite! Read more here: tweedegolf.nl/en/blog/240/... @0x76.dev #rustlang #embedded #softwaretesting

tweedegolf.nlPoC for universal hardware-in-the-loop HAL test suite — Tweede golfDeveloping HALs is great fun, but testing them can be a hassle. That's why we developed a Proof of Concept for a universal hardware-in-the-loop HAL test suite.

one odd thing about LLMs with programming is like... okay so obviously we all construct English and other human languages and sentences, and it learns from them when it talks but seeing code patterns that it learned that i specifically had a hand in creating is like, wild

More and more people I deeply respect and have learned a lot from over the years feel like they are speaking into a void, to the point where they are losing motivation to continue making content, which got me to write my first post on my site in over a year... www.kevinpowell.co/article/tell...

Learning about @oxide.computer's Hubris RTOS has been an incredible exercise in how different systems can be. In some sense, it has essentially made the polar opposite choice to everything I've done with embassy, async, and ergot over the past 3-5 years. Neither are *wrong*, they're just different.

I'll be at RustWeek too! I'd love to talk with you all about my OSS project like device-driver or my async optimization plans, but also any general embedded Rust topic :) So if you see me around, feel free to walk up!

We're headed to Utrecht for RustWeek! Come meet (nearly) all of us at our booth, shared with Trifecta Tech Foundation! @trifectatech.bsky.social @rustnl.bsky.social #rustlang #RustWeek2026

I love to help people learn #RustLang and get better at Rust programming! I have well over a decade of experience with Rust (including extensive work on Rust from before 1.0, core team membership, and other leadership work), and have helped numerous people learn it and teams successfully adopt it.

Some thoughts on AI (I'm resisting writing a blog post because I have nothing of great value tbh, but it is a hard force to resist): I understand a bit better people who say it's fun to use. It kind of is if you have something you want to build and if there is a lot of boring code to get there.

hello everyone! we're hard at work on an imminent launch. we have scalable monorepo support, jj-first concepts (but deep git compatibility!) and stacked diffs. we're very flattered by the attention yesterday and today!

It's super exciting to see more games built with Bevy start to mature and bloom. I love the toon shaded style!

Fields of Aaru ☀️ Zymartu Games@zymartugames.bsky.social

IGN just premiered the exclusive announcement trailer for our game! My wife and I have spent over 3 years building Fields of Aaru, a cozy life sim set in an ancient Egyptian inspired afterlife. Having IGN reveal it feels surreal. youtu.be/wu3RVvxqfG4?...

Do I have any followers familiar with Embassy + smoltcp + STM32, and interested in a paid consulting gig? I've got a company seeing dropped / missing packets, and it could be an interesting project + fun investigative writeup.

Just spent an hour today in our agentic AI coding class showing all the way Claude Code produces *subtly* bad programs for a pretty trivial application. Wrong in some ways, but just bad in other ways. Reading its output is always a sobering experience.

Here is one of the dumbest things about vibe coding that I don't see a lot of people talking about Imagine you're an open source maintainer and someone opens up a pull request against your repository that they vibe coded. They may or may not tell you they vibe coded it; it doesn't really matter… 🧵

Also asking, because it's pretty common to want to track things like code size over time, and see the impact of PRs over time on things like static RAM/flash usage for embedded projects.

What tooling do people use nowadays to monitor software for performance regressions? I want to periodically run various benchmarks (which could take minutes or hours), store the results in a server, and see graphs over time of how they are affected by code updates or environmental factors.
