thank you. thank you.
Thanks to Beaker for filling in for me at trivia last night, sorry about how your impeded peripheral vision caused you to spill most of a Saro Cider into your lap.
NEW: "Donald Trump was an active participant in Jeffrey Epstein’s sexual abuse of young women during the mid-to-late 1990s," per new House Judiciary Dem report.
Report has new allegation that Trump raped a 24-year-old and then promised the victim a visa & NYU admission, demanding she stay quiet.
I won't be able to host @triviamafia at Vis Major tonight at 6:30, so Mr. Beaker is going to step in to cover me. That's right, it's a costume party! Prizes for 1st and 2nd place teams, and prizes for Best Overall Costume, Best Group, and Most Obscure costumes. Because trivia celebrates the obscure!
I use two G's to spell Greg, and I use two C's to spell success.

Resident Evil (2026) is one of the best video game movies ever made.
Unfortunately Zach Cregger got mixed up and adapted Inside (2016) but it's still really good.
There are definitely people who can explain the Brazilian election with a lot more authority and knowledge than me, but that was it in a nutshell.
He didn't show mercy to the fascists when in power, he didn't compromise them, and he promised the hope of something better.
Going to catalog this year's 31 for 31 while I wait for us to go see Resident Evil at da movies. Mute #Gregs31for31 if you want!
1-3 The Devil in Silver (6 eps, 2026)
🌕🌕🌕🌕🌘
Really great start to the year, Dan Stevens is one of my faves. The real monster is American health care and policing.
G1: Videodrome 🌑🌑🌑🌑🌓
(If I watch a movie alone, it's numbered separately. And the scale is new moons)
Knew this wasn't for my partner, body horror's not their fave. This movie is greasy & foul; it has Cronenberg's signaturely subtle chainsaw of social commentary. Really wild images. #Gregs31for31
16: Possession (1981)
🌕🌕🌖🌑🌑
I'd seen Sam Neill's other horror movie performances so it was great to finish the collection. This movie is a delightful mess. Everyone is just flailing around most of the time, including the camera operator. Heinrich is truly baffling. Haunting finish. #Gregs31for31

14: Scooby Doo (2002)
🌕🌕🌕🌗🌑
Not all the CG in this has held up, but Scooby's still pretty solid. The rest of the cast is delightful. I probably romantically imprinted on Linda Cardellini in this. Sarah Michelle Gellar at her best, Matthew Lillard really nails it. Sugar Ray jump scare! #Gregs31for31
15: Near Dark (1985)
🌕🌕🌕🌖🌑
Like a Lost Boys precursor in many ways. Really great atmosphere from a clearly limited budget. Bill Paxton at his deranged best in a chosen family of bloodsucking drifters. Remarkably hard to stream for a Kathryn Bigelow movie, sets a tone for her work. #Gregs31for31

8-12: How to Get to Heaven from Belfast (2025) 🌕🌕🌕🌕🌑
More of a whodunnit (wedunnit?) than supernatural. Outstanding production, costume, and lighting design work hugely to set risky atmosphere. Same creator as Derry Girls shines here, deftly layering heavy themes into light work. #Gregs31for31
13: House (1985) 🌕🌕🌕🌕🌑
This movie is wild. It feels either it was rushed through production to capitalize on Ghostbusters or got a change in tone late. An author battles his Vietnam flashbacks, trauma at losing his son, and some (admittedly pretty great) Deadite-adjacent puppets. #Gregs31for31

6: Obsession (2026)
🌕🌕🌕🌖🌑
Tremendously unsettling indictment of incel culture here, echoes hauntingly with the manufactured tradwife "movement." Inde Navarrette really is that good. Compelling openings left for a sequel, loved the world-building in the background throughout. #Gregs31for31
7: Matinee (1993)
🌕🌕🌕🌑🌑
Watched this the same night as Obsession. John Goodman is winning as hell as a cinematic huckster, but the kids' plots at pretty thin. The way the real-world nuclear brink backstops the nuclear Mant (he's a Man Ant you see, a nuclear Man Ant) story is great. #Gregs31for31

Cassie Workman approaches the history of the occult in this excellent YouTube series produced by @lillywachowski.bsky.social. Like a supernatural Bill Nye, there are puppets, reenactments, & tons of joy. Ritual magic ep is especially touching. #Gregs31for31
Kansas Dem Sen. nominee Adam Hamilton on trans rights:
“I don’t think we should take a small group of people and bully them, pick on them, and hurt them. I understand one thing really clearly when it comes to transgender people, and that is Jesus told me I was to love my neighbor as I love myself”
I hope Cheesecake Factory comes out with a statement like "We must clarify we did NOT allow Saddam Hussein to design our chandeliers and he had virtually no input into our menu" and then we can ride this through Monday

Movie 24 of 31 for 31:
Hokum fucking rips. Really loved Oddity, I'm sad I didn't go scare myself silly in the theaters on this one, but we just wrapped it up at 1am so I'm proper spooked by it.
Damian McCarthy's got a real gift, excited to watch Caveat and thrilled to see what he does next.
Saw Connor Ratliff presents The Acting Class tonight, and it was really fucking funny and heartfelt at the same time.
St. Louis 11/14, Chicago 11/21, KC 12/11. If you're in those places, you should see this show! linktr.ee/connorratliff
I hope I can figure out a way to keep going.
In the meantime, if you have friends in Omaha or St Louis or Chicago or Kansas City, please give them a heads up about my upcoming shows if you can!
I have a sinking feeling...
I've noticed that you can never simply say "No" to AI features. The default options are "Show Me" and "Maybe Later." Silicon Valley exists to erode human consent, and I hate it.
"Everybody is being fucked with constantly in tiny little ways by most apps and services, and I believe that billions of people being fucked with at once in all of these ways has profound psychological and social consequences"
@edzitron.comwww.wheresyoured.at/never-forgive-them
well, on the one hand AI has made things significantly worse for everyone in almost every capacity that it has touched. But on the other hand, the dumbest guy you know can send emails nobody reads really fast now. So it's impossible to say whether it's good or not
I need to know the full filling situation here. Is it just slices of bratwurst in there? Is there kraut? Is there an aromatic Chinese Mustard character to the dip?
The genius here is that they don't need to say "American as apple pie," but it is. It's so relatable to go to bat this hard for food.
Let me talk about the dekopon, you'll see this emerge.
