In Springfield, Ohio, people are preparing in advance of a “large deportation” promised by the president. To all appearances, the city is 2 or 3 days from a federal ethnic cleansing, grounded in a hate campaign organized by the vice-president and American Nazis. snyder.substack.com/p/ethnic-cle...

6/ So Trump went to Xi to surrender. Trump rolled back the tariffs, paused the new restrictions, and in exchange Xi made a vague commitment to buy some soybeans and start exporting some minerals. Xi had now proven that he could win a trade war with Trump. An embarrassment.

We need a bigger national spotlight on this building raid, fam. Agents dropped from helicopters onto the roof. Citizens and non-citizens alike were dragged from their homes in the night. People who weren't kidnapped during the raid had their belongings seized after the fact. This is madness.
"Jones, 27, is among the residents left at 7500 S. South Shore Drive who are trying to piece together what remains after an early morning, high-powered federal immigration raid led to the arrests of dozens of their neighbors at their South Shore apartment building."
Jesus Christ, @msnbc.com Not five minutes into Ari Melber’s show, and you’re using Trump’s horrendous speech yesterday to… …bash Democrats? You want to know how we got here? Look in a fucking mirror. Jesus Christ?

Anyone who doesn't believe that voting is fundamentally about harm reduction lives in a state of blissful ignorance that comes with a body count
People who believe not voting 2024 makes them morally superior because they're not "murdering children" should be constantly reminded that they helped elect Trump, who destroyed USAID - an act that's now murdering children around the world. www.bu.edu/sph/news/art...

Anyway, I'm convinced White House Correspondents are too bilkered by their own proximity to power to come up with anything meaningful to report other than a second-rate playwright notes.
Executive segment producers love Trump because he allows them to live in the pastless, futureless, contextless void of What's Happening Now with zero demands for a sense of irony or dissonance between his lies. I'm tired of pretending otherwise.

None of this "We need a positive alternative vision" nonsense. The positive alternative vision is a world without Trump, with MAGA fascists, where things work like they supposed to and used to, where the economy grows instead of shrinks, where the laws are followed, where the Constitution matters.

This is a good article because it isn't a mere victory lap, but a good explanation of *how* the "alarmist liberals" among us got it right. (And I'm not saying it is good just because I too have been chided online and in person for being one of those "alarmist liberals" myself.)

I’ll go to my grave believing Harris ran a very good campaign and lost because of factors that were baked in long before she became the nominee
I’m a moderate and I think she ran a really good campaign. My dream campaign? No but that’s because, given a choice, I never would have picked a relatively bad politician like Harris, but the campaign itself was fine.
