One sentence: “Between the Democratic Convention & election night, Clinton's emails were mentioned in more NYT stories than the presidential debates, Trump's tax returns, the Trump University fraud litigation, the Access Hollywood tape, Trump's proposed Muslim ban, & the VP debate combined.” 😐

it's really, really fucking infuriating to be ruled by public officials so unbelievably, unfathomably, stupidly fucking racist such that you can't really finish your thoughts on the matter out loud because they are in fact public officials

eh go fuck yourself. "be neutral on [insert interest] when you run and then stick it to the industry when you win" is a time honored way of actually getting things done.

i don't think anyone should run explicitly on banning online gambling but i do think that a democratic-led government should just quietly take steps to undermine the industry and create an inhospitable regulatory environment

Lula won in part by banning online gambling

This is so backwards. Talk radio uses gutter racism, misogyny, et al to scare idiots into voting Republican *despite* the party’s actual policies, which even voters don’t believe are real when they’re described.

Matthew Sheffield@matthew.flux.community

Yep. People can only know the politics that is presented to them. And candidate speeches never reach most people. And even if they did, a lot of people would struggle to understand them. Talk radio and podcasts spend hours on a daily basis patiently explaining Republican party views. It works.

EL-SAYED: I get that the President takes personal offense to my first name. He doesn't mind as much when it's the Saudis who are funding his son-in-law's private equity. Doesn't seem to mind as much when it's the Qataris who are giving them a $400 million private jet…

All of this bodes well for Talarico (Dems are more engaged than GOPs, so far), but another stat that should encourage the Dem Senate nominee: Black primary voters are turning out at a high rate, even exceeding that of Hispanic primary voters.

turns out that voting is a very good way to kick right wing authoritarians out of power

The long-serving strongman leader of Serbia, Aleksandar Vucic, has conceded defeat in an election that pitted him and his right-wing party against a diverse student-led opposition movement that spent two years protesting his government.

I'm not some campist who's going to say we should all accept what's coming to us but we are at war with them and the way we still treat it as surprising that means they're at war with us is a little silly
