More in the piece, which I hope you read. But a key thing to remember is that while Trump is expanding automation in ways that align with the interests of the rich, he is making automation harder for safety net programs like Medicaid. donmoynihan.substack.com/p/automating...

Trump Accounts would allow corporations or their owners to make donations by zip code. So, for example, a company trying to set up a data center could give money to families in that region. This is the logic of the bribe state which Trump has enabled and supports. bsky.app/profile/atru...

Aaron Rupar@atrupar.com

Trump: "As far as data centers, we don't want to get controversial. The community that they're been built -- they're great, they give you a lot of money -- ask for a lot of money. Tell them to pay you $10,000, $15,000, $20k for everybody who lives in the community. They'll do it! You just gotta ask"

This is extraordinarily dark: government agents surveilling peaceful protestors and trying to entrap them into breaking the law. It’s a classic measure of an authoritarian state.

Greg Sargent@gregsargent.bsky.social

Trump's covert surveillance of anti-ICE protesters is much worse than we thought. I dug into this and found that DHS agents secretly spied on over a dozen meetings of left-leaning groups, all protected by First Amendment. The details are unnerving. 1/ (new piece) newrepublic.com/article/2144...

This editorial is indeed blunt, in your face, sweary, and absolutely 100% correct. I'm happy Science published it. It needs to be spread far and wide, because it strips away all the usual mealy-mouthed crap when it comes to discussing Trump and makes it clear who he is and what he's doing.

Alex Wild@alexwild.bsky.social

This is a blunt assessment of what the Trump regime is proposing for US science: they plan to take all the funding, essentially collapsing university-based research, in order to give that money to themselves, and they are lying about it.

We shouldn’t expect Trump to moderate in the face of mounting losses - whether they be political (midterms), military (Iran), or policy-driven (courts) losses. A lesson of January 6th is that when faced with a loss, Trump becomes more extreme, not less - just like other aspiring autocrats.

riotbrrd.bsky.social reposted

Trump's war on Iran has reminded me of Putin's war on Ukraine in so many ways, not least of which is this one: a cadre of advisors being too scared to tell the President what they really think, only to be horrified when he unleashes what they should've stopped him from doing in the first place.
