Both combatants roll a save for each of their stats. Whoever has more successful saves, wins. If there is a tie, whoever has more hit points wins.

Unfortunately I utterly detest any game where the strategy relies on randomly drawing the right card from a deck so I will never get to play Jean-Luc Picard Commander
Despite the fact that there are more ants (π) than lightning (β‘), games almost always have lightning (β‘) damage but almost never have ant (π) damage
Really makes you think. And as I always do when it comes to these issues, I say "Follow the money."
Big Lightning doesn't want you to realize just how many ants there are

50 years ago Earth barely survived an alien attack. Today, hundreds of alien hives surround Earth. We need you to discover why.
Cryo Drakus is available now, PWYW!
Quick-to-learn ruleset, tactics heavy alien reconnaissance in an rpg. An exploration twist on classic shmups like R-Type and Gradius.
I think there's a bit of an obsession, especially among GMs, for their fantasy maps to reflect the world they portray 1:1. I understand this can be useful at times behind the screen or in a published module, but maps have historically been useful for reasons other than accuracy
When it comes to RPGs, giving your players a 1:1 map is a missed opportunity. "Inaccurate" maps are not only more evocative and tell a better story, but they let the players fill in the blanks, both literally and figuratively!
An obviously wrong map also allows for the players to get lost π
So do what I do and give your players bad maps. A shitty map they need to ponder over and make assumptions about is so much more fun (and easier to draw) than a fully fleshed out perfectly detailed world map
Here's my "bad" map for our Dragonbane campaign with lots of blank space left to explore!

Even when attempting to Portray reality as accurately as possible, maps have so often been used to communicate specific ideas and concepts that the image of reality is secondary to the idea they are trying to communicate
Of course, the concept of being able to depict the world with perfect accuracy is a modern one. Up until relatively recently, we didn't even know what most of the planet looked like. Before that, the tools and technology of cartography were limited such that our best efforts were still just a guess

UK Games Expo has banned generative AI art, text, and merchandise across all NEC exhibition halls, bringing the convention in line with broader British tabletop standards. Standholders face removal or bans if their products aren't made by humans. #UKGE
I hate the bear/bull market analogy because how dare you implicate the humble bear in the horrors of capitalism, let alone the audacious but equally humble bull

I have been having fun with these posts, but I'm admittedly not really good at social media and am never sure what tidbits make for interesting posts. So if anyone has any questions or things they are curious about concerning BREAK!!, I'd be happy to answer them here!
Exploring sites is an important part of BREAK!!, so naturally there is a procedure to it. Part of that procedure is deciding on your team's positioning while they are doing so. There are unique circumstances to each position...
I'm sure wages of sin is "good" but playing a bounty hunt in any system other than DRIER DESERTS, HOTTER SUNS sounds like a really, really bad idea to me!!!!!!!!

SIRIUS: TREACHEROUS REACHES is a 5-to-10 social deduction game about orbital terrorism set in a scenario inspired by the Maoist-Naxalite Insurrection. Practically speaking, plays like 5+ player Battleship with impostors, or like Werewolf with nukes.

New blog post up: a whole lot of praise for Vaults of Vaarn #2, a city/faction toolkit zine for one of my favorite games around. Water debt! Mutant bigotry! Brain-eating ghouls!

About a month ago, before Between Two Cons, I updated Night Tripper for the first time since 2022, to version Ansible 1.0, but didn't really push it out publicly. I made some tweaks and pushed Ansible 1.1 just now!
