Increasing looks like the issue with Helen Haines attack will be one politicians can directly fix: Lack of mental health services particularly in regional Australia.

Women in Australia continue to pay the price for the instability of men in their orbit. Whether it’s clinical mental health issues or because their team lost the grand final, men consistently choose to vent their anger on women’s bodies.

Oh god. This is getting increasingly awful. The family of the man who attacked Helen Haines' were long-term friends of the MP with a relationship that substantially predates her time in politics. ☹️

Yikes... 80% of shifts below the target staffing level in August. #nzpol

This picture will always be iconic. RIP Margaret Hamilton who wrote the software that successfully guided NASA’s Apollo missions through the moon.

It’s one month since the disaster on the Nepal-China border. The media’s focus has moved on. It's yesterday's news. At least 1,450 lives lost, and over 5,700 still missing. Climate change was a key contributing factor. Our addiction to fossil fuels makes these events more likely. #greensky #nzpol

What caused the giant Langtang Lirung rockslide and ice avalanche, resulting in Nepal's worst ever 'natural' disaster? Fossil-fuelled global heating.

Glen@gergyl.bsky.social

It's a rock slope failure that happened to have a glacier on top. Ok, not entirely, but as a summary that's pretty close.

The footage coming out of Nepal is horrific. So many lives swept away in an instance. And the confronting reality that there is a direct line between this disaster and deaths, and countries like Australia doubling down on fossil fuel production/exports and accelerating climate change.

An incredible story. The Iranian Christian woman who wrote “help” on the glass on the hotel in Panama has finally found permanent safety; in Canada. The Trump admin deported her to Panama soon after taking office, rather than let her seek asylum. Read her story 👇 www.nytimes.com/2026/08/25/w...

Folks: here's a meaty long read for you on how Australia's data centre industry lobbied (successfully) to kill regulations that would force them to cover their new demand with renewables And how (this is spicy) the desire within some climate/energy spaces to see data centres as 'cleantech' helped

ketanjoshi.coHow Australia’s data centre lobby is winning its fight to to freely polluteData centre greenwashing is getting worse, alongside the tech industry’s hunger for fossil fuels. Why help them?

Modular wastewater treatment tech. Cheaper and fast to deploy - so helpful for adaptation & recovery. No chemical treatments - so much lower emissions. Made by NovoLabs in New Zealand.

Climate pals, what are your favorite examples of actions that simultaneously reduce climate pollution and help us adapt to climate changes that we can no longer avoid? Joint Adaptation and Mitigation (JAM), if you will.

I'm not sure folks have realized just how crazy the second half of 2026 and 2027 will be for global temperatures – on the back of a record-smashing El Niño event. Here is my latest estimate of where both years will end up compared to global temperatures since 1850.
