A day late for #caturday, but Billie is feeling so much better after her accident! She’s still gaining weight and is now strong enough to enjoy little walks in the garden.

I’m not a political journalist, so was gladly surprised at the community I found here last night. To Americans anxious about the upcoming elections, a key thing we learned in Brazil that might help you: DO NOT engage with the far-right online. Don’t share rage bait. Amplify your people. Ignore them.

between serbia, brazil, and hopefully november 3, a good reminder: voting works it’s not the end, there’s always work to be done after the vote, but if you want to beat the motherfuckers and keep them out of power: vote your asses off

Studying languages has gotten so much easier. Looking up words takes seconds, nice people on YouTube explain even the most obscure grammar, and we have access to unlimited spoken and written content online, basically for free.

Social media loves talking about how everything is getting worse. But what’s something that you’ve seen get _better_ in your lifetime?

150.000 Menschen in Belgrad. Abschlusskundgebung der wohl größten Demokratiebewegung Europas. Am Sonntag tritt sie bei unfreien und unfairen Wahlen gegen ein rechtsautoritäres Regime an. The name for bat in Japan is 'kōmori' (蝙蝠)...possibly this derived from 'kawamori' (川守 'protecting rivers'), 'kawahari' (皮貼り 'skin stretched [between bones]'), 'kahofuri' (蚊屠り 'mosquito vanquisher') or 'ka-o-hori' (蚊を欲り 'craving mosquitoes')🦇🦇 #Japan #蝙蝠 #bats

🌕BATS FOR BATS🦇 Unlike many countries, in Japan bats have long been considered auspicious symbols...their images used on everything from sword sheaths to kimono. In China the word for bat (fù 蝠) was a homonym for 'wealth' or 'fortune' (fù 富), and over time the bat became connected to good luck.

The Jericho Mile is basically a perfect film. A TV movie that feels nothing of the sort. It is nothing like Michael Mann ever directed again, but still full of that enticing weird self-destructive masculine existential angst that Mann is obsessed with.

What an awesome 10 mins of music, dance & filmmaking! Turns out the director, Gjon Mili, was a pioneer of capturing a sequence of actions in one photo. The Lindy Hop (below) was the cover for Hanif Abdurraqib's A Little Devil in America. Gjon Mili is worth a search so you can see how good he was!
