thinking about how Nostalgia Critic's tagline, "I remember it so you don't have to" is a fundamental building block of how you get fascist ideology in the first place, a funny haha version of molding the past as you see fit to create a "then" that must be returned to at any cost in the "now"

During the brazilian elections we learned one obvious but important tactic to defeat the far right on the Internet and I think everyone should know it: IGNORE THEM! DON'T ENGAGE WITH THEIR CONTENT! DON'T MAKE CONTENT REACTING TO THEM! DON'T HATE QRT! LET THEM ALONE IN THEIR BUBBLE!

everyone should be a disability advocate because the options are: -die -live long enough to acquire some sort of disability

correct. it's wild to remember that so much of this could have been stopped cold by 5 or 6 people deciding they cared about our society. and their whole thing could be stripped down to the studs by dealing with maybe 70 guys

This is such an incredible book. A genius work. And the writing is so beautiful. Behemoth: The Structure and Practice of National Socialism, 1933-1944 by Franz Neumann

AOC: "As AI begins to encroach in our society, their goal is to take your cognition away from you. AI's goal is to take your thoughts away from you, your ability to think away from you, so that you become dependent on a machine ... reading books is active resistance"

It feels impossible to reason about what it might have been like to live more than a few hundred years ago. Until the 1750s or so, kids had an about 50% chance of making it to 15 years old. Today, the worst country in the world for this statistic gives you an 85% chance. In Estonia, it's 99.7%

Until around 1750, people were going at it like rabbits, all around the world, and the population barely budged. Imagine having to have 9 or 10 kids before, on average, the population increases. And not just you - everyone around you. No wonder it took forever!
