the UK has the loosest gambling laws in Europe and let me tell you: this is one of the things that is killing every. thing. else. property greed is the other. but gambling is destroying high streets, areas, social cohesion; if you don't live in an area infested with slot arcades you don't get it

I think we underestimate the appeal of antigambling politics because every problem gambler is surrounded by 3-10 people who are absolutely sick of their shit.

Not only an incredible talent, but a rare talent who also thought it was funny to just voice random memes every once in a while

Unbelievable loss. An amazing talent, and just a really, really good person. www.instagram.com/p/De8RFy4pyov/

Interesting comparison... side on definitely easier to eat but end up fine, actually.

Much discussion here as to whether to put hula hoops "end up" or on their side in a crisp sandwich... #CrispSandwichDay

Disney's very mid THE FOX AND THE HOUND (1981) at a cinema that's now a very art deco supermarket. Enjoyed the whole thing of Going To The Pictures but remember nothing about the film.

First film you saw at the cinema. The real first one, not the pretend one you tell people! Mine: The Empire Strikes Back, 1980, Wigan. We were near the front and I can still remember how massive the AT-ATs looked, looming over us out of the snow :) Film, year, where, and whatever stuck with you.

I'm hopefully taking a six-month work sabbatical to write a book about Pulp! But only if I can hit my goal on Kickstarter. So, please consider backing, or even better share with people who love Pulp as much as I do.

Just launched! Freaks, Mis-shapes, Weeds: A song-by-song exploration of every known Pulp recording, and life. 30 days left to make this happen! www.kickstarter.com/projects/jam...

It's almost a joke at this point, but the entire story of Mamdani's mayorship really has been "it turns out we can just turn off the orphan grinding machine, the switch was right there the whole time."

New: Mayor Zohran Mamdani and City Council Speaker Julie Menin have reached a deal to abolish NYC's horse carriage industry — a critical breakthrough in a decadeslong, politically fraught effort to ban the tourist attraction. www.politico.com/news/2026/10...

One of the later games I had for the Speccy – an ambitious conversion that looked impressive but was a nightmare to play. The bundled soundtrack cassette was ace though.

The Atari ST and Amiga offered great new possibilities for games, but for years those games couldn't compete with the old 8-bit machines in the charts. In 1988, a pioneering 3D space game helped to change that. New post on Starglider 2 and Argonaut Games: www.superchartisland.com/starglider-2

The thing about seeking out a diagnosis, and for now I'm *just* talking about kids - is it is not something that you do for fun. You do it because there is clearly an unmet need that exists and diagnosis a route towards finding out what will meet that need.

If you're in my GP's office any time soon, prepare yourself for what many are calling the greatest mnemonic of all time. Come for E and P, but sit down and clap for I.
