a weird set of people who only exist online are people who celebrate the defeat of global fascism in every other country and are then horrified and appalled at the idea that they should also be expected to vote for their domestic opponent of global fascism if some of their stances are Problematic

Sorry for the Guardians. Good run. If you want a better chance next year may I suggest your $5.5 billion owner double the payroll and still have the team be well below the median franchise

I know Hegseth and Trump were going to do it for sick reasons so you don't have to hand it to them, but public capital punishment should be the liberal position. It's the government making the most extreme action possible and the public has the right-to-know what is being done in their name.

Multiple Sclerosis advocate Selma Blair arraigned for assault on an airplane? Again? More like P!MS, amiright fellas? (My wife chuckled at this before scowling so that's my permission to post this.)

The people who run MLB think baseball fans are so, so stupid.

J.P. Hoornstra@jphoornstra.bsky.social

Flipped to the Rays-Guardians ALCS to see an MLB-sponsored ad in which fans complain about small-market teams needing more of a chance.

It's October so I am once again sharing my favorite spooky story: in Central Ohio, local governments team up to ban kids from tricking or treating on Halloween* - not a dystopian YA novel but reality! Sign and share my petition to end this nonsense. * when it falls on a Friday, Saturday, or Sunday

Benjamin McKean@blmckean.bsky.social

Tell the bureaucrats in the Mid-Ohio Regional Planning Commission you've had enough - sign the petition and let Columbus kids trick-or-treat on Halloween!

My surgery was delayed, so I am going. By myself. It's a Mellon Collie specific tour and I am pre-emptively mad they are going to play the worst 2.5 songs off the album (Take Me Down, Stumbeline, the bloat intro to Porcelina) to give the drummer a break. bsky.app/profile/rust...

Want to go to the Smashing Pumpkins concert but my hernia surgery is scheduled for that day. #ElderMillennial Despite middle age my guts are escaping their cage.

*Assuming you have a full spice rack. I had run out of coriander and that's like $8 right there. Anyways here's hoping I get a @foodandwine.com sponsorship. Other than the lamb and the toast toppings, these recipes are not super expensive. I hope you try one of them and let me know how it goes.

These recipes have all been pretty inexpensive. Not this one: Lamb Chops! I had some leftover anchovies from the Parm and leftover herbs from the tomato salad and cauliflower soup, so saved some money at the margins. I am lucky to have kids that like anchovies: www.foodandwine.com/recipes/doub...

Monday: Probably my favorite F&W recipe: Pork chops with apples, bacon, mustard. I LOVE pork and we had just gone apple picking. Only problem here is no pan can fit 4 pork chops, so the recipe only works if you use two pans; hard to keep everything cooking evenly. www.foodandwine.com/pork-chops-w...

foodandwine.comOne-Pan Pork Chops With Apples and Bacon Screams Sweater WeatherThis creamy pork chops with apples recipe features thick-cut bacon and a creamy mustard sauce for a quick and easy 30-minute dinner.

Served with a tomato salad covered in herbs and fried almonds. This is on F&W's list of their best ever recipes, and, yes, it sure is. Very easy, very summery, a great showcase for good tomatoes. Thai Basil can be a hassle to find, but otherwise very easy. www.foodandwine.com/tomatoes-wit...

EAST BOUND AND DOWN, LOADED UP AND TRUCKIN

Maciek Hamela@maciekhamela.bsky.social

With the Strait of Hormuz closed, Iraq has resorted to moving its oil across the desert to Syria in hundreds of tanker trucks, in true Mad Max style. From there, it will be shipped to worldwide markets.

Replying to @rooster.info

Senator Bill DeMora (D-Columbus) tells The Rooster that he'll be offering an amendment to close Ohio's child marriage loophole as part of the Special Session. Senate President McColley infamously lacked the juice to corral his caucus into passing the legislation in June.

Oh hell yes: Ohio House Democrats want to pay for Vivek Ramaswamy's gas tax holiday nonsense by repatriating the $600 million handout to the Cleveland Browns.

My wife didn't know Sam Raimi's whole deal (only has seen the Spider-Men and...maybe the Oz one?) and I tried to give her a quick 101 before watching Send Help, and, bullseye. I was clapping like a seal during the ground-level POV shot through the jungle.
