Knowing that most people care about the climate is important. We call it one of the “six key truths” about climate change: It’s real It’s us Experts agree It’s bad There’s hope OTHERS CARE In fact, it’s the strongest predictor of many important measures of issue engagement.

People DO care about climate change, and more as time goes on. The headlines from this recent ONS survey are striking: 60% think it's an important issue for the UK 85% know they have already been affected by it People who care are in the MAJORITY. Never forget that. www.ons.gov.uk/peoplepopula...

This statement is incredibly important. We must build out clean energy infrastructure and help other nations to do so too.

Not just the fastest, or the cheapest, or the best, but the *only* possible solution to climate change is a rapid global buildout of clean energy infrastructure. If you're standing in the way of that, you're not working on climate change & should be honest with yourself about your priorities.

Every time we get new science on methane emissions from oil and gas the numbers are far worse than what we were told. Every time. "They estimated about 2% of all natural gas piped into Indianapolis is eventually leaked."

Most US electricity distribution grids have headroom between winter demand peaks and grid capacity. Adding heat pumps to these grids could increase energy throughput without requiring new infrastructure. More energy sales, same grid costs --> lower energy prices for all. New RMI report:

When this portable, window-mount, heat pump came out it was $4,000-$5,000 to purchase and install. Now it is down to ~$3,000. It's a cold-climate heat pump that operates to -22°F, runs on 120V and you can still see out the window! 🧪💡🔌☀️💨💧🔋

By energy, PJM's queue is dirtier (73% fossil) than its current generation mix (61% fossil). If the whole queue got built, PJM would get even dirtier (67% fossil). A permitting bill that sped up buildout of this stuff would sicken and kill more people from air pollution and speed up climate change.

The biggest barrier to emissions reductions is increasingly our inability to quickly build clean energy: solar, geothermal, wind, nuclear, transmission, battery storage, etc. Projects are held back by a thicket of regulations and reviews.
