19 years ago, an ambitious dream to bring an iconic book series into the world of video games came to life with the release of The Witcher. It was the start of an unforgettable path, which wouldn't have been possible without our friends at BioWare.

I had an incredible high school teacher whose words feel so relevant today. Paraphrasing (cuz it was years and years ago) If you want a strong indicator of the health of a society, look at how that society values its artists.

I will slightly bring attention to the studio that spent decades having inclusive characters, pushing lgbt relationships and having progressive messaging being shut down 2 months after EA was bought by the saudis.

There is something so soul crushing about creating art that pushes the needle in the games industry, only to be thanked by using the capital gained from said art to push the ones who created it out of a job.

Bioware was my first industry job, stayed for 6 projects over 10 years, the people I worked with there turned me in to the dev I am today. What a shattering loss for the industry. Gonna go study some sea shells.

Can’t say I’ve liked much of anything BioWare has put out since the Obama Years, but it’s so fucked to see such a resurgence in mainstream singleplayer games again and the people who helped make singleplayer games on pc popular got permabarred from ever reaping its rewards because EA is the devil.

I don’t know about you, but seeing Jack Smith in the crowd at yesterday’s Power to the People festival did something profound for my deeply battered faith in this country. There he was at Merriweather Post Pavilion in Columbia, Maryland, wearing a black Bruce Springsteen shirt with two simple,

What you need to understand is nothing we built was “off the shelf.” Store-bought environmental assets for stop-motion features do not exist. We were given concept art and told “make it look like this.” Everything you see here, down to the dirt and moss, was meticulously designed and crafted.

On this day six years ago, we launched the original HADES after almost two years in Early Access. And to this day-or-night and forever more, we are deeply grateful for all your incredible support of this game.🙏 Thank you for playing, and good luck getting out of hell!

Many cultures have hyperbole to indicate "long, long ago" in mythic times, but Korea's is uniquely strange: "back when tigers used to smoke" is one of many ways tigers appear in Korean folklore and myth. #FolkloreThursday

Our expectation I that you would only become a werewolf only when in view of the full Moon. We use a combination of mitigations - limiting launch opportunities to days when we’ll approach from the side, window shades when & special sunglasses during transit.

Next space mission needs to do some research on what happens if you send a werewolf to the moon; does it just make you go full wolf, full time? Or does the novelty wear off due to exposure? @jthutt.bsky.social please weigh in

More context on this #Artemis II image: * This is the night side, lit by moonlight. You can see city lights in Spain & Portugal, & a sliver of day at lower right * The Sun is entirely behind Earth, which makes it a kind of solar eclipse, but w/ Earth doing the eclipsing instead of the Moon: ☀️🌍🚀🌕

Completely shocked by the sudden loss of Catherine O’Hara, one of the funniest and most talented people on this planet. As a massive fan of The Nightmare Before Christmas, I couldn't think of a better send off than her performance of Sally's Song.

I was thinking this the other day with a sense of encroaching depression: I have written fictional villains whose inner landscapes are magnitudes more complex and sympathetic than some of the world's richest people. Why, yes, I *am* equating billionaires with villainy. Well spotted.

Fictional villains: Society has failed me and now the only way I can save those I love is to break the law. I'm not a monster, but I'll break you to protect those I care about. Real world villains: I now call this meeting of We Love Sex Crimes to order.

So glad we could make the Alban Arthan (winter solstice) celebrations this year at Bryn Cellu Ddu. It was cloudy, as us expected this time of year, but for a brief moment we all witnessed the most beautiful sunset 🥰 #marilwyd #marimôn #solstice

Happy that independent games won all the things at the game awards, but E33 winning art direction seemed... iffy? Awesome that Hades 2 won Action Game. Darren Korb was totally robbed in that Best Score And Music category though. Ahem.

Because I cannot resist a music meme: Introduce yourself with five concerts you've seen — Nick Cave, with and without the Bad Seeds Concrete Blonde Black Rebel Motorcycle Club Leonard Cohen The Dandy Warhols

Hades II is amazing. There are nods to both Lattimore's and Wilson's Odyssey translations. Lattimore: “Tell me, Muse, of the man of many ways…” Wilson: “Tell me about a complicated man…” Hades II: “Some know him as the man of many ways; certainly he is a complicated one.”

On the one hand, this is an astonishing technological feat and is to be applauded. On the other hand, JUST LOOK AT THE ADORABLE SNOOT ON THAT AIRCRAFT. WHO'S A NOSEY BOY? YOU'RE A NOSEY BOY! YES, YOU ARE!

I’m excited to share my finished marionette/puppet, Gourd-fellow the pumpkin sprite. This is my first marionette and I had so much fun making him, I'm probably just gonna turn into Geppetto now. 🎃
