Love this quote -> “No matter your diet, masculinity is about protecting — being a natural protector of the most weak and the most vulnerable,” “And that includes not only animals, but human animals — those that simply can’t protect themselves. To me, that’s a pillar of what masculinity really is.”

Kenny Torrella@kennytorrella.bsky.social

A few months ago, nutrition and fitness influencer Jacob Smith talked up the benefits of tofu and... some guys totally lost it. How did meat become a measure of manhood for a lot of men, and what can be done to separate meat from masculinity?

I've said this before and I'll say it again. It would only take a tiny handful of Republican Congress members or senators to stop the slide of America toward authoritarian fascism, but nope. They're all in.

I’m seeing posts from people (outside of MN) about how US citizens should carry their passports. And let me say that *inside* MN, we are calmly responding to requests with: “No, I don’t have to show you any documentation.” Because that’s how you protect everyone, regardless of immigration status.

I will forever be haunted by this footage. Trawling has only been filmed underwater a few times in documentary history, and never with such clarity. What’s so heart-rending about these shots is watching how the animals don’t just get swept up — they swim for their lives. 🌎🦑🧪

Right now, Dems are hiding in their offices, scrolling their phones fearfully, wondering "how are voters going to feel about the National Guard being deployed?" The right, meanwhile, is vigorously *attempting to shape* how voters feel about it, filling every medium with coordinated propaganda.

Its awesome Dems are going into red districts and doing these townhalls when the GOP rep won't, but it would be better for the midterms if they brought along a Dem candidate for that district

Kevin Kiley refuses to talk to his constituents about their health care and social security. Because he WON’T protect it. So, I went to Folsom and talked to them.

Democrats need to do these press conferences with every shitty thing Trump does. Go to auto plants that just laid off workers, go to farmers that can’t sell their crops. Go to research labs that have lost funding. Show your country and the world that you’re pissed off at this shitshow!!!!

Donald Trump is embarrassing the United States on the world stage. We are a country that stands up to dictators and fights for democracy. Minnesota stands firmly with our allies in Ukraine.

Apparently the federal workers that created radar, the internet, GPS, semiconductors, touchscreen technology, voice recognition, jet engines, solar panels, etc. didnt produce federal revenue...

Greene: Those are not real jobs producing federal revenue. Federal employees do not deserve their jobs. Federal employees do not deserve their paycheck

Nor the federal workers that help communities and economies recover from natural disasters, nor the ones that help mitigate disasters through weather forecasting, flood control, forest management... Nor the ones that coordinate air travel and ports that facilitate trillions in commerce...

I could go on & on but the inherent value of public servants goes FAR beyond their economic contributions. There are MANY immeasurable/invaluable services they provide to communities, their health, safety, education, environment, etc. But that flies over the heads of the GOP & their worship of greed

Nor the federal workers that protect beaches and fisheries that are the heart of many coastal economies, or the National Parks that are the sole reason many rural economies exist... Nor the federal workers that provide millions of people with healthcare and help them get back to work...

Nothing says efficiency like shutting down infrastructure that has already been installed and is working fine!

What's their next move after they fire most of the public servants managing our parks, forests, and lands? Sell off the public lands to finance Trump's dreams for a sovereign wealth fund. @americanprogress.bsky.social www.americanprogress.org/article/trum...

Once I realized it’s just easier for these soggy brains to call everything they don’t understand a conspiracy rather than trying to learn the issue I can’t unsee it. It’s the defining theme of the Trump era GOP.

I ran $100 billion in Infrastructure and IRA programs at EPA. We obligated over $70 billion onto signed awards and contracts to protect public health and the environment. All that funding is currently frozen. Here are the facts… 🔌💡 1/X

Two women, Dr. Nancy Beck and Dr. Lynn Dekleva, who used to work for the American Chemical Council are returning to the Trump administration to take key positions at the EPA. The chemical industry is seeking to loosen Biden PFAS drinking-water standards. /1 www.nytimes.com/2025/01/22/c...

What is common knowledge in your field but shocks outsiders? It's part of the oil industry's business plan to simply abandon their wells and other infrastructure when it's old and no longer profitable. They often just sell them to shell companies and walk away

What is common knowledge in your field but shocks outsiders? More than half the CO₂ emissions of the Industrial Age have been pumped into the atmosphere since 1990.

You are up to date.
