Imagine a world where we are no longer dependent on oil and nuclear energy. It's coming and it's better and that's why the vested interests are doing everything in their power to stop it

Jan Rosenow@janrosenow.bsky.social

Solar has overtaken nuclear. A decade ago it supplied 1% of the world's power. In 2025 it met three quarters of global demand growth. Almost nobody saw it coming. I spoke to Jocelyn Timperley at BBC Future about why. www.bbc.co.uk/future/artic...

The lessons from Brazil and Serbia? Don't concede one inch of ground to the far right. Don't appease. Don't triangulate. Don't grovel. Don't say they have "legitimate concerns". Mobilise your base, and fight them with all the democratic means at your disposal.

My heart is heavy. Walter Koenig, our Ensign Pavel Chekov, passed away early today. Walter and I met on the bridge of the Enterprise in the 1960s, and we stayed friends for nearly six decades. When Brad and I married in 2008, Walter stood beside us as our best man.

Bolsonaro's loss is not just a loss for Bolsonaro. It's a loss for Trump. For Musk. For Milei. For Netanyahu. For Farage. For Meta and Zuckerberg. For the meat barons, the fossil fuel corporations, and the rest of the neocolonial looters. And it is a massive win for humanity and the living planet.

Doesn’t matter how you voted if you were front and centre in a Brexit government, actively overseeing the shrinking of our economy, our influence and our opportunities, while you rolled around in the trough. We’ll be disregarding everything you now say, thanks.

The thing I like about Andy Burnham talking about free movement is that he used the phrase “honest conversation” about immigration talking about the benefits and trade-offs, rather than it being immediately followed by something racist.

Kemi Badenoch and Jacob Rees-Mogg, both Conservatives, criticised Andy Burnham for appearing on Gogglebox Here's Boris Johnson appearing on Eastenders when he was Mayor of London The double standards are extraordinary.

One of the great political achievements of the 21st century, delivered by Mayor Sadiq Khan.

The Green Party topping off a disastrous few weeks by slating Prime Minister Andy Burnham for going on Gogglebox, spending a few hours in his own time to raise money for a cancer charity. Imagine thinking "raising money for a cancer charity" is "ridiculous"?

We all know what happened. We were there. Hancock lied at every stage even in January when WHO gave its warning Johnson didn’t take it seriously and neither did his acolytes. Sunak made it worse with his eat out scheme. Many died unnecessarily Outright negligence. There must be a reckoning

LaindonFeminist@viviane49.bsky.social

The media have ignored the Covid Inquiry outcome. All those deaths directly caused by Johnson and Hancock ignoring advice. They need banging up. But we are moving on. Because the media say we should. Failed 6yrs on by our media colluding with the vile Tories. Never forget.

One: this is welcome Two: Burnham is the first PM in some time who’s remembered that he’s PM, so can set the agenda.

I'm the ideal person to lecture teachers on hard work, since I’m usually too busy with my 12 side grifts to bother turning up for the full-time job I’m paid to do and because I had the 4th worst attendance record out of 751 MEPs in the EU Parliament.

Kemi Badenoch says without hesitation that everyone has tins of food in their cupboards and enough supplies to last a few days. She proudly boasts that she shops for the whole week. 🙄 Has never met a poor person in the wild or heard of the foodbanks that exploded under the Conservatives. 😑

So, Farage has reported ITV to the police following the work their undercover journalists did which confirmed that Reform is indeed a seething mass of racism, misogyny and bigotry. Meanwhile, here’s some commentary from Private Eye and their handy guide to undercover journalists.

The undercover reporter suggested people did not mind if Farage “makes a few bob [from politics]” Jukes replied: “Well it’s a bit priced in with our Nige, isn’t it, no one’s voting for him to be the pope” But a racist, corrupt, security-risk PM is fine, is it? www.theguardian.com/politics/202...

These guys will do anything to kill reform. They're partisans. They don't give a damn that FPTP is mangling our electoral system or that it could hand total executive control to Nigel Farage. They just care that a few times a century Labour has a majority. www.politicshome.com/news/article...

The trade unions resisting a political donations cap in the UK are ragged-trousered philanthropists. Thanks to their delusion that a system allowing limitless donations enhances their power, they're in danger of handing the country to the far-right parties that billionaires support. Burnham must act

Simon S reposted

Simple answer - the majority right wing media not only let's him get away with it but continues to promote him... while many in Labour - for the most part - arw too timid to call him and his disgrace of a party out. Burnham has it in him. Needs to take the fight to Reform

Marcello Ruffini@marcello65.bsky.social

How is Farage not entirely finished as a politician? He survives party gaffe after gaffe with ever thicker layers of gaslighting time & time again. Will the news media never give up this golden goose & consign his career, once and for always? #ArrestFarage #FarageRiots
