Elon Musk has spent more on politics in two years than George Soros has in his entire life. Now he’s trying to buy Ken Paxton a Senate seat because he knows how easy it is to bribe that scumbag. It’s up to Texans to tell Musk their state isn’t for sale.

Maybe the slugs are finally tiring of all the salt?? Maybe? Why don't we stop being slugs for salt here in the USA? In fact, let's just go ahead and do that. Stop being 'slugs for salt.' For a change.

What's striking to me are the rules of engagement and the methodology of action here, which more or less is predicated on burying liberal delusions about "debate" or the "marketplace of ideas". The rules were ultimately very simple: amplify your own message and suppress your opponent's.

I don't know that there is a template or a "secret sauce" or a clear-cut lesson to take from this. But if there is one it's the idea of treating social media as the hostile territory that it is, of actually acting like you are a participant in propaganda warfare and not like a consumer.

Obama: "Republicans are doing what they always do, running all kinds of scary ads about Democrats and how the woke police will arrest you and force-feed you tofu. We are not gonna fall for that. They run that same okie doke every election. It's tired. Tired!"

If you think Trump ordering the Justice Department to stop the certification of an election that hasn’t even happened yet is bad, just wait. They’re scared as fuck right now and panicking. A wounded animal is dangerous. It’s going to get crazy.

US garment workers helped pioneer multi-ethnic labor unions, which united people across racial, religious, gender, linguistic, and cultural divides. Also native-born citizens and immigrants. I think about that sometimes when I see people suggest such divides are unbridgeable.

I dislike pseodo-military terminology in tech. Forward Deployed Engineer (FDE) for real, from the AI industry? You guys aren't climbing out of Higgins boats to storm the beaches of Normandy, you're handholding clients watching your slop generator output slop at a client site and making excuses.

Retired guy whose healthcare bill is entirely paid for by working adults talking about how he shouldn’t have to pay for other people’s kids to go to school while standing in front of a mansion he owns is really just an excellent encapsulation of the Republican base.

The more I am learning about the AI cult and SV/Bay area tech culture, the more I understand why the industry’s outputs suck so much. It’s all burrito taxis and wire mothers because that is what youngish people who make six figures but live with 5+ others in drafty victorian houses want.

[blameless retrospective voice]: it turns out that the people who design systems for the entire world living in a dysfunctional nimby dystopia that effectively forces them to live in communes perhaps causes dysfunctional nimby dystopia commune assumptions to leak everywhere

on October 14, a black bear entered the Mammoth Lakes Library at 6 am. it was the 100th anniversary of the publication of Winnie-the-Pooh. the bear went directly to the employees' food supplies. i know what you're thinking. the answer is yes. he ate a pot of honey. this was a pilgrimage.

facebook.com385K views · 119 reactions | On the very day the world marks 100 years since A.A. Milne’s Winnie-the-Pooh was first published, a black bear made its way inside the Mammoth Lakes Library branch of the Mono County Free Libraries before opening hours — and, in a tribute no one asked for, went straight for the honey. Director of Libraries, Josef Bopp, shared that the bear entered the library at approximately 6:10 a.m, well before public opening at 10:00am. Upon entering, the bear went straight for the staff snack supply, where it helped itself to peanut butter, a selection of peach cups, a pawful of cookies and — of course — one jar of honey. Satiated, the bear then took a full tour of the library, perusing the new releases and inspecting the reference desk before, evidently content with its visit, letting itself out and departing for the day. Remarkably, no damage was reported. No shelves were toppled and no books were harmed, though the honey jar has not been returned at time of publication. “While we love an enthusiastic patron, and we understand the excitement of the centennial,” said Bopp, “we do remind patrons- and perhaps more importantly our bears- that snacks are not part of the circulating collection.” Winnie-the-Pooh was first published on October 14, 1926, introducing readers to a “Bear of Very Little Brain” with a very large appetite for honey. One hundred years later, the timing of the curious bears visit seems more than a coincidence. The library invites the community (human members only) to celebrate the centennial by visiting any of the seven #library of the #monocounty Free Libraries for a copy of Winnie-the-Pooh, or related bear titles! *On A Serious Note* Pooh may be cuddly, but #mammothlakes bears are wild. Residents and visitors are reminded to: • Keep a safe distance and never approach or feed a bear • Use bear-resistant trash containers and keep car doors and windows closed • Report bear encounters to Mammoth Lakes Police 760-932-7549, option 7. Or 911 in an emergency. As Pooh himself might say, it’s best to think, think, think before getting t | Mono County Free LibrariesOn the very day the world marks 100 years since A.A. Super cool car for any terrorist who wants to circumvent normal physical barriers and create a mass casualty event. Or just anyone who gets impatient on a highway.
