As *tech*, AI isn't exceptional. It's not exceptionally wicked. It's not exceptionally good. Take away the accompanying, galactic-scale stock-swindle, and we'd call AI's apps "plug-ins" and we'd use them and abuse them in the same way that we've used every other technology: www.normaltech.ai 1/
To put it another way, Nuance is dead
context. sentiment. inferences. People seriously cannot do these things anymore. That’s why they angrily demand you spell out every joke, every reference, super duper promise you mean something only this one prescribed way. They cannot do it for themselves or tolerate the any ambiguity.

God I wish I could lower my expectations for Dems but it's hard for them to get any lower
Please stop overestimating what a democratic Congress can do. The oligarchs are spending money to make you think a Dem Congress can arrest people and hold trials and pass laws without a POTUS signature so that you’ll be disappointed when they don’t do stuff they can’t do. Don’t fall for it.

on some level, you have to accept that yes, people are reacting emotionally without doing detailed research but really you can’t blame them or stop them. this was some bullshit not a single one of us had to think about three years ago and now it’s making shit worse in like most daily interactions

Guitar center dot com right now is a testament to the true power of the internet
Holy shit. All of the submission videos are just being uploaded immediately at the bottom of the webpage without any moderation whatsoever. Somebody is getting fired for this. openforlegends.guitarcenter.com/campaign/ope...

The most significant victory of generative AI to date has been convincing a huge huge chunk of the progressive left to adopt right-wing behaviours: spreading fabricated text and images, boosting a fascist sense of distrust of everything, refusing to check, research and investigate, constant lying

14 hours later and my mentions are still full of angry treatises about badly behaved cyclists. Bike lanes are not a reward for good cyclist behavior! They are infrastructure proven to make cities safer for ALL ROAD USERS. Whatever way cyclists have wronged you is irrelevant to the discussion!
Every conversation about bike lanes is like: "Car crashes kill a huge number of people every day, including pedestrians, cyclists, & car occupants. Good bike infrastructure has been shown to make everyone safer (& doesn't increase congestion)." "But sometimes cyclists break rules & hit people!"
Call me an asshole BUT maybe if you signed your life away to the US govt for them to use you as they see fit, to kill foreign civilians or be cannon fodder, you should not be super shocked when they treat you as disposable
Sen. Mark Kelly: "The president has spent a good portion of his adult life sitting on gold toilets and doesn't know what hardship is, and doesn't understand our service members. In fact, it's insulting what he said -- that the deployment wasn't long enough. He doesn't know sacrifice."

I heard reading ayn rand before puberty makes your brain leak out your ears. After puberty it just makes you nauseous.
One of the reasons I suspect kids aren't reading is that they continue to force them to read Ayn Rand in school. In 2026. What the fuck. I might stop reading too if that was a formative experience.
