the problem with 'do cool shit and tell people about it' is telling people about it is so much more annoying than doing more cool shit

oh it's the oriel extension, huh!

OpenXR 1.1.63 specification just released And adds some major Spatial Computing functionality to supported platforms XR_EXT_spatial_container and XR_EXT_spatial_container_self_rendering, the big ones, allows apps to be rendered as visionOS-esque volumes

see this is why i hate responsive design! this can't work well dynamically on a screen that's not 4:3 without extreme effort it just does not work at all on portrait or 16:9 without reflowing the layout, which means the layout has to be automatic, which means you can't manually author it anymore

Brookie@brookie.blog

you call yourself designers ?? this is what real design looks like.

and tbh i think that's a huge reason why layouts aren't interesting anymore, you could count on a specific screen aspect ratio and density on a CRT but you can't really do that anymore... but in XR you can count on a physical size matching, so we don't need responsive design in XR anymore!!!

At #SIGGRAPH2026, I presented "points as tori" (PAT) for fast pointwise evaluation of signed distance for point clouds. Some code (Python w/ C++ extensions) and demo up: github.com/nzfeng/point... Contributions from people/LLMs welcome. Explainer thread below for the project: 🧵

I think this may have just solved a big issue with spatial UX I'd been having, that being how do you identify things without reading a ton of text? this generator has enough variation to make each one have a unique identity that isn't homogenous or otherwise semantically attached!!!!!

new toy! generate a unique sigil (strange attractor) for any word what's yours? sigil.brennan.computer

we're still alive!!! been working on the design style with gsplats (nebula design) and porting the whole thing to binder so programs can talk to each other :)

Just like last year, we replaced a whole wall of movie posters with our own punny movie posters at the cinema where RustWeek 2026 took place. I designed seven new posters for this year's event. See the thread below 👇

Remote attestation is a heavily underdiscussed threat to computing freedom. People often mistakenly dismiss it with "I will run my own fork (of the OS or browser) / Magisk", not understanding that with hardware attestation, you're literally unable to 1/

GrapheneOS@grapheneos.org

Apple and Google are gradually expanding their use of hardware-based attestation. They're convincing a growing number of services to adopt it. Google's Play Integrity API and Apple's App Attest API are very similar. Apple brought it to the web via Privacy Pass, which Google intends on doing too.

Introducing bab-hash.org. A cute little website about a family of hashing functions designed for partial data verification in peer-to-peer systems. You can learn what it does, how to use the Rust implementation, and read its specification (with interactive diagrams, ofc).

I've noticed that people always care more about a tangible thing than abstract, I don't think it's being dumb or anything but just a thing to account for in design

Technology Connections@techconnectify.bsky.social

People be talking about EVs today and that's like my whole thing so here's what I've identified as The Problem: The idea of being inconvenienced AT ALL overrides the average person's ability to consider whether a small inconvenience in one context might be outweighed by upsides in other contexts.

If you want to be a better engineer, you need to take estrogen. Every 10x dev I know is on E. The mass Rust migration? E. Your favorite open source maintainer? On E. The girl using NixOS on a ThinkPad from 2012 who rewrote your entire infra in a weekend? On E. Stay competitive or get left behind.

Did some math to analyze object motion localized within specific areas. Accounts for angular velocity as well as linear velocity. This is gonna be useful for many things in the game. #GodotEngine #gamedev #indiedev

something that's been bugging me the whole way through the llm psychosis news arc is the realization that most people can hear "you're right" and not immediately think "but what if i am not"; that adversarial metacognition is not only atypical, but foreign enough to register as innovation

Another recontextualization of @dollspace.gay 's adversarial verification framework - this time for citations

Proud to have had a hand in making this happen. Adding visibility to what is supported in middleware helps move the standard forward and give much needed clarity to developers.

OpenXR@openxr.org

The Khronos OpenXR Extension Matrix now includes middleware support data from Godot, LÖVR, StereoKit, Unity, and Unreal Engine — so developers can see exactly what's available across the full XR stack. khronos.org/blog/khronos-adds-middleware-insights-to-the-openxr-extension-matrix #OpenXR #XR

Holy fuck GPT Image 2 (Not 4o based) is GOOD. New SOTA on image generation? It's at least as good as NBP2!

1 year ago i invented this whole thing, and gaussian splats totally took off in that time!!! i've so gotta get back on the horse and explore this more... been so busy with the tech side but i wanna make the art/design side amazing too!!!

Nova🐧✨@technobaboo.bsky.social

made even more, I'm gonna have to make these the rendering primitive for @stardustxr.org... seriously perfect for XR UI design

This is the best product review I’ve read: samhenri.gold/blog/2026031... It doesn’t matter if you’re interested in the MacBook Neo or not; this is the kind of essay that makes you think about the potential of technology and the joys of exploration.
