we're starting to see that programming (encoding concepts in an executable form and order) and software engineering (refining concepts into repeatable, reusable units that are fit to purpose) are and have always been almost completely orthogonal

P(aul) Frazee@pfrazee.com

I’ve gotten this a couple times so one thing to clear up: At this point I think AI coding is akin to having a new compiler, and the language is just natural text (often specs). LLMs do not currently have the capability to make good engineering decisions past a certain level of complexity

I hear you—and I apologize. That mushroom was one of the poisonous ones, you’re right. That’s not just useful feedback—it’s you setting a boundary.

it's morning so I'm going to attack the timeline one thing that LLMs have taught me is that, while it is both prerequisite to understand the possible and to have the taste to make it not terrible the LLM is not going to replace the executive function you need to ship the thing sorry y'all

I love Talarico and hope he wins. But he’s already raised $70M On the flipside, control of critical state legislatures will come down to seats where candidates raise 0.1% of that. I’ve researched the highest leverage swing district candidates you should donate to secure.actblue.com/donate/donat...

im not kidding and im sure @cameron.stream can back me up from another direction: if you arent capturing/mining your team's agent session logs, you are leaving it all on the table. we have a service that lets you run RAG tool calls against vectorized agent session summaries and it is 🔥🔥🔥

the fact that ant/oai dont trivially expose a "download all my org's inference logs" button makes me think that they realize those logs are worth almost as much as the output of the agent sessions themselves

seriously. god give me the confidence of a dude that thinks he is a better programmer than linus torvalds

I am not normally this blunt, but. I'm fucking begging people to do a "non-slop" fork of Linux. Please. I beg you. You can do it! You can manage the Linux kernel and keep the project alive! Your puritanical self-purging witch-hunt prone group is surely the stable, sensible leadership FOSS needs!

Still doing interviews. Still writing Four Corners puzzles. Any help here is deeply appreciated, even boosting it, tysm.

Probably should've done this ages ago, but I just setup a Ko-fi page. Extra support is deeply appreciated. I'm paying for hosting out of pocket, now a couple of months into being unemployed, and my birthday is in a couple of days. ko-fi.com/ens0dotme

Nuclear opinion: I don’t care if you use AI to write code,¹ but making a human review a change before an LLM is disrespectful. Why am I catching your bugs if a computer could have done it? It’s like asking to review code that doesn’t compile or pass CI. ¹ As long as you do it responsibly.

Polytoken 0.2.0 is publicly released! Even though there isn't all of a website yet. An entire thirteen of people have been using it all day and nobody has yelled at me yet. You can get it at docs.polytoken.dev/installation (forgive the mess; WIP) or you just `brew install polytoken/tap/polytoken`!

Still in need of a full-time remote senior/staff-level job! My strengths are TypeScript, Solidity, SQL, C#, and Swift. Decent with Rust. I'm a good team lead too and was once a CTO of a YC company. Boosts for visibility appreciated. Thanks SO much.

Replying to @avengingfem.me

A big reason AI haters annoy me is their assumption that we don’t know how stupid LLMs can be Brother, I’ve spent the last two years building systems to account for how stupid LLMs are

Scientists are furious over Russell Vought's major proposal today - giving this admin final say on grants, effectively dismissing the entire scientific peer review process. But the proposal is also deeply systemic. It's been really hard to deal with the news lately, which is saying something.

Hey there folks. Some of you may know of the GoFundMe I have up for my cat, Maczko. Here's the link gofund.me/87431aae8, if you haven't seen it. Today, I'm adding some benefits to hopefully help me get to my goal. I'm about halfway there currently (which, after half a week, is insane to me!)

A lot of AI criticism makes me feel like someone says “the automobile has been disastrous for society” and I’m nodding along like “yeah I actually really agree, I think that car centric urban design has-“ and then they add “also it’s a scam, cars break down after more than ten miles anyway”

My first time doing any kind of artwork at the new place! Still getting settled in. Hopefully not much longer now. This is my Phantom Rogue from a DND game I was playing at one point based off EQ2. Who knows, maybe's she's due for a return...? ;) This piece was inspired by the Highlight Challenge.
