Looking back, I can't help but see how very young Elina Löwensohn looked. As if she might have been as old as 16. I'd like to think she was older than that, but I can't tell from this picture.
In my country, they speak of a man so virile, so potent, that to spend a night with such a man is to enter a world of such sensual delights most women dare not dream of. This man is known as the "Comedian". You may tell jokes, Mr. Jerry Seinfeld, but you are no Comedian. / S06E06 The Gymnast

Accepting automobiles as one among many transportation options is the CONCILIATORY position
“The mobility transition’s biggest obstacle is not a lack of support, but a misunderstanding of how much support there actually is. Politicians must stop blindly accepting the loudest voices and focus on what the silent majority wants: a city where the car isn’t the norm, but one of many options.“

this is disqualifying for any leader of the democratic party, no matter how you look at it.
Chuck Schumer — one of the most powerful Democrats in the country — has not issued statements to the press or through his social media channels about the administration’s attack on Ilhan Omar, which critics have described as a five alarm fire for the state of democracy in the U.S.

In other words, it is the job of scientists to devise experiments that can test their claims, to always be cautious abt what they are claiming, and to critically evaluate the claims of other scientists. By these well-established standards, no serious science is happening behind Anthropic's claims.

They have been dealing secretly with Putin for weeks over this. Impeach. Impeach. Impeach.
The very first shipment of 300K tons of Russian diesel—carried by the tanker Minerva Zen, which left St. Petersburg on September 22—arrived on the US East Coast less than 24 hours after the deal was formally announced.
I agree with this. AI has some serious downsides, but it's a useful tool in some circumstances. Much like fossil fuels: a poison that unlocks something useful. I use it, but I wonder what the consequences will be, for me and for the world.
feels like there is a group of smart and well-intentioned people who long ago made up their minds that AI Is Bad, swore off using it, and now get all their info about AI from each other. not saying they're wrong that ai is bad! but i think they're gradually losing touch with what it is and does

HUGE: Autozone workers just won the first ever union at the company. Despite Autozone spending an estimated $210,696 and using every tactic in the book to stop just 11 workers from forming a union, the small shop in New York chose to unionize today. These workers will now join the @uaw.org.

Ironic since Amazon has allowed agents to shop for the last year techcrunch.com/2025/04/03/a.... Clearly, though, Amazon is trying to prevent agents from choosing between Amazon and *other* shopping sites (which is easy to do with agents looking for a deal).
@reckless.bsky.social has described this as the "door dash problem." I still feel the monopoly of Google/Amazon/Apple will be big enough to bully any other business into relenting into their systems. www.theverge.com/podcast/8239...
Israel doesn't seem to be getting *more* democratic at the moment
The Knesset barred today the only two Palestinian led parties from running in the coming election. According to an overwhelming majority in the Knesset, the constitutional meaning of a Jewish State is a state where Palestinian citizens cannot run for parliament.
