I’m not a political journalist, so was gladly surprised at the community I found here last night. To Americans anxious about the upcoming elections, a key thing we learned in Brazil that might help you: DO NOT engage with the far-right online. Don’t share rage bait. Amplify your people. Ignore them.

The Serpent of Venice, in which a diminutive fool named Pocket, with the help of a dragon and Marco Polo, solves the racism and antisemitism in The Merchant of Venice and Othello. $1.99 wherever you buy your ebooks.

Anyone have any informed insight on why EVERYFUCKINGTHING is being ridiculously difficult to use? I've just had to TRY to sign into MS WORD, four times, unsuccessfully, when I own 3 active, paid subscriptions or licenses. (And sign in info is maintained in a password manager.) In light of some magazines pulling scummy things on creators lately, I’m doing a little thread on short story rights. I don't want anybody getting taken advantage of. Also, if you're new, this stuff can be confusing!

I try not to think too much about the fact that the Cabinet official tasked with preventing terrorist attacks here seems like one of the dumber cartoon animals in the Hanna-Barbera family

Getting a lot of e-mails lately that summarize one or another of my books. Obviously A.I. generated, but how did they think I wouldn't be able to tell? I'm simply thanking the sender for clearing up what the book was about for me.

Got a notice from Apple today that they are implementing more security due to the intrusion of Meta's A.I. agent. Maybe anticipating a war with the robots is off base. Perhaps it will be a war BETWEEN the robots, and we will just be collateral damage.

Wow, these job numbers are TERRIBLE. Many people are saying we must have an “incompetent” president who is “asleep at the wheel”

DUN DUN DUN -- Fox Business on the September jobs report: "The numbers do not look good. I'm looking at 29,000 jobs added. That is well below expectations for 90,000, and our unemployment rate jumps up to 4.2%. A significant slowdown."

Suggestions?

@theauthorguy.bsky.social I am starting a book club & want to feature your work to introduce my friends to the hilariousness that is you. I'd love a curated list you recommend we read. Here's mine: The Bloodsucking Fiends series The Grim Reaper series The Stupidest Angel for Christmas Thoughts?

While it's true, this is paid for with money stolen from the American people, do note that this ad, which played nationally during football yesterday, is one of the most 1984, authoritarian terror pieces that we've ever seen outside of fiction.

With the reappearance of Jill Stein comes the reemergence of people who will spend enormous energy criticizing Democrats for not stopping a corrupt president and the same energy defending voters who could have stopped him by voting for his opponent.

A.I. companies are not trying to figure out how to protect you from their technology. They are trying to figure out how to monetize it without liability. Since we won't pay for it directly, they'll convince companies that to compete, they HAVE to have it. Enjoy your newly priced streaming services.

Watched the A.I. Documentary on Netflix last night. The disturbing part is the optimists say that "the end of work will free everyone up to pursue artistic endeavors." Trying to envision 8 billion people learning to paint with oils, play the violin, and pursue a higher state of consciousness.
