#BookSky If you only buy one book this year, make it this one. Utterly unique, beautiful storytelling, with a warm humour and full of kind generous characters who are just trying to do the best they can with the life they have, and have the sort of eccentricities I recognise in myself.

A big ask, no pressure & I know people have better things to do but if about 15-20 people buy this from Blackwell's in the next few hours it's likely I'd have the number 1 & 2 books in their chart & that might be enough to finally persuade an American publisher to get my books out over there...

Please enjoy this sketch I just did of our local herring gull Rod eating the salt’n’vinegar Hula Hoop I gave him.

Well, I think it's fair to say that this was a surprise for everyone involved.

Finally realised why I don't like voice notes. People do them because they find typing tedious -- it takes too long. But because speaking is easier, they say FAR more than they need to, meaning recipient has to listen for ages, mostly to waffle. It's shifting the extra effort onto the receiver.

Apologies today's #vss365 poem is a little too long for x but every time I tried to cut it down it lost something. Although it's deeply personal I hope it also has a wider resonance for anyone who has lost a loved one. #falling #poetry #poetrycommunity #writerscommunity

I am a blind lady in my 40s with a Seeing Dog as my guide assistance dog. I have never had a male before and their toileting is much louder than my females. However I have discovered his wees are quite tuneful and rhythmic and now I sing along.

Our local council (in the UK) has just introduced an extra food waste bin for every household. Admittedly the comms from our Reform council havent been great but the local facebook groups seem to be losing their mind over having one small extra bin. I don't know what the fuss is about, as we used

A little bit of silliness for the intentionally childfree. What's the one thing stopping you having kids? I'll start - the child eating troll who lives in my attic.

Listening to the wonderful new album by Raye 'This music may contain hope'. I love its unashamed sumptuous storytelling and the theatrical scale. What am amazing singer, song writer and arranger.

We see your Humble Jumble Lane and raise you Crack-brain-court and New Martin Street a.k.a. Shall-I-go-naked-street! These are from Whitechapel, London, in the early 1700s. Does anyone have any more stupendous street names, from #OnePlaceStudies or elsewhere, to share on #OnePlaceWednesday?

Didn't they have some interesting road names back in 1850. Humble Jumble Lane, now known as Alverthorpe Road, Wakefield

50 runaway sheep ram-paged through a German supermarket in rural Baa-varia, causing shear mania on Monday morning. After breaking away from their 500-strong herd, the brazen sheep spent 20 minutes milling around in the Penny supermarket before ewe-turning and seeing themselves out.

Fun fact. The 20 C artist Alexander Calder built a whole minature circus made of tiny trapezes and the like, and wire figures who he manipulated in performances lasting up to 2 hours. You can see more at Understanding Alexander Calder through 6 Pivotal Artworks | Artsy share.google/Hmzcka41d1Dz...
