In 2026 I no longer have any patience for people who are wishy-washy about voting D because D isn't perfect enough. My patience has been replaced by white-hot rage. Shut up and get to the polls before the Republicans literally kill us all.

TRUMP'S VIEW OF AMERICA: A farmer in the rural Midwest sits on the porch, looking out on the land that has been in his family for generations, the land he just had to sell to keep from declaring bankruptcy. He glances at his phone. "Yes!" he exclaims. "Ballroom!"

Please don't overreact to Roberts Court decision on the contemplated USPS ballot moves They simply held that the injunction came too early in the process, before there was a final rule👇 Now we HAVE a final rule & we will litigate it. I'm as confident in our arguments here as in any of our cases!

Optimist: the cup is half full Pessimist: the cup is half empty Teacher: there’s enough water in the cup for 3 students. I have 36 students. I bring in my own water from home, it’s still not enough and I am attacked by society for not doing a good job.

NEW: President Trump makes four false claims in a 43-word post about Tina Peters. Peters is 70 (not 73), does not have cancer, was sentenced by a judge in Mesa County (not the Governor), and did not expose fraud in the 2020 presidential election.

“Stop crying and learn to win an election” Wow. The irony is just completely missed here. Are things better for the Arab world or Palestinians or students or people expressing 1st amendment rights? No? Then maybe you screwed up here. Yours isn’t the only voice or the only viewpoint.

Trump's mechanism to pay the troops during the shutdown is by far the most illegal budgetary action he's taken as POTUS, potentially setting the stage to break everything. It's also needless because Congress would easily pass a troop pay bill if Johnson were willing to gavel in. Long thread.

Good tread discussing how lots of right wing behavior isn’t based on facts or experience or logic, and yet liberals constantly give them cover by scrambling for some kind of rational explanation (one which frequently blames liberals themselves). Stop it.

David Roberts@volts.wtf

I really enjoyed this @ezrakleinbot.bsky.social pod about Covid & MAHA, but one thing it repeatedly revealed is a habit of liberals that drives me crazy. A short 🧵.

🧵 THREAD: A federal whistleblower just dropped one of the most disturbing cybersecurity disclosures I’ve ever read. He's saying DOGE came in, data went out, and Russians started attempting logins with new valid DOGE passwords Media's coverage wasn't detailed enough so I dug into his testimony:

It all matters but I think to maximize the impact of this, Dems need to tie this lawlessness to tariffs & DOGE. You have an unconstrained leader acting like a king and usurping our democracy — & look at the results! To our safety net, our economy, our basic rights. Make the case it’s all connected

Harvard FTW: "The university will not surrender its independence or relinquish its constitutional rights. Neither Harvard nor any other private university can allow itself to be taken over by the federal government."

The Declaration of Independence lists 27 specific grievances against King George III, so I started highlighting the same offenses that Donald Trump has also committed. So far I count 10 in whole & 4 in part, while Trump is threatening/planning several more (items 5, 9, 11, 15, 20, & 23). Thoughts?

Not just the movements, but the actual policy goals as well. Even if you elected a progressive majority to the House, Senate, and White House and they passed a bunch of progressive laws, the Trump court would just strike them down. Re-electing Trump has doomed progressive laws for 50-60 years.

The US constitution was built to avoid centralized power and tyranny. It is not the constitution that is failing us. It is the partisans who have promised to uphold the constitution that are failing us.

It’s not the job of Democrats to save us from Trump’s destruction. They can’t In our system the check on a destructive/criminal president is Congress and Democrats don’t control Congress. Until a good chunk of Republicans help, Dems can’t do anything Start demanding Republicans do things, not Dems

Place blame where it belongs. Democrats aren’t doing this and aren’t enabling this. People who didn’t vote. People who tried to convince you there was no difference between Dems and the GOP. Republicans as a whole. Those are the people to blame.

A thread worth pondering. He’s right. If we’re the unstable element and willing to use our economic power to hurt allies at any moment… then it’s time for an economic divorce. And that’s gonna hurt the US long term and permanently.

There are two ways the international community can respond to Trump’s Colombia sanctions. The first is to keep their heads down and let Colombia weather it alone. The second is to realize that they are next and step up together. I’m not optimistic, but maybe eventually they’ll figure it out.

Agree. You don’t have to claim that she’s right on literally any other issue (she’s not). But if you’re not willing to recognize Republicans who stand up to fascism then no Republicans will stand up to fascism and fascism is going to win. She’s a patriot. Wrong on lots of issues, but a patriot.

I’m supposed to have this tribal hatred of Liz Cheney despite her sacrificing her career to fight the one threat I care most about. And I’m supposed to have this tribal loyalty to leftists who continually refusal to do the absolute bare minimum and support a liberal Dem against that threat. Nah.

If you truly care about collegiate women's sports, instead of arguing about ~10 trans women competing in NCAA sports, go look at these huge issues & their consequences: NIL (name/image/likeness); employment lawsuits; online harassment (related to both NIL and gambling); conference restructuring.

A good rundown on how NIL deals might impact women’s sports in college. This is someone who is actually paying attention to the big issues in women’s collegiate sports rather than getting frantic about a few trans athletes.

Kate Starbird@katestarbird.bsky.social

NIL (name, image, likeness) stems from recent court decisions & allows college athletes to get compensated. It was conceived as a way for them to get commercial sponsorship (to appear in ads). But now, colleges are pooling $ from boosters to use to recruit and pay athletes. Great for some athletes.

Good quick hits on some immigration related facts.

I’m enjoying the MAGA v. DOGE fight as much as anyone. On the other hand, it’s kind of depressing that both sides in this dispute within the governing party of the U.S. are deplorable. Idiotic nativists and reprehensible eugenicists. Neither side believes in the principles of the Declaration.

In my first year of college, someone set a serious fire to my dorm house floor. I was told by the RA the cops wanted to talk to my downtown. I assumed they were doing this with all the students who lived on that part of the floor. So I went, completely idiotically oblivious…

Speaking of shut the fuck up Friday, I’ve been seeing some people say that the FBI has contacted them for questioning after seeing social media posts, and my extremely urgent advice is that you should under NO CIRCUMSTANCES talk to the Feds without a lawyer.

100% there are few people that make me roll my eyes harder. Taking Abramson seriously, is an instant unfollow as it demonstrates you can’t tell good takes from bad and whatever good take got me to follow you was an accident at best.

Seth Abramson is one of the worst Resistance Era peddlers of bad ideas backed up by no relevant expertise and should be relegated to the dustbin of cheap inexpert opinion givers. It was bad stuff in 2018 and demonstrably bad now applying a mere scintilla of hindsight.

I knew about the “lawyer dog” but not the rest. This is a very good read. Quick, easy to understand, knowledgeable. How Miranda has been eroded over time:

Amanda Knox@amandaknox.com

You may not be aware that over the last 50 years, the Supreme Court has chipped away at your Miranda rights case by case, rendering them weak and ineffective. You no longer have the right to remain silent, to an attorney, not with the foece you used to. Time for a history lesson. /🧵

Yes. 100%. Empowering Trump - and the damage he will cause - is 100% the fault of those who didn’t vote for Harris. It doesn’t matter why you didn’t vote for her. You knew it was Harris or Trump and you chose not to help. The far left just refuses to recognize basic electoral realities.

The fact that Musk can be CEO of 3 companies and the head of a federal “department” is all the proof you need that executives don’t actually have real jobs and are GROSSLY overpaid. There literally aren’t enough hours in a week for you to do 4 of your job but Musk can do it with time to spare.

If you’re a good person (someone adamantly opposed to Nazis) but someone who can’t leave the country and has real things to lose (family, career, life, liberty)… what are you supposed to do in 1933 Germany when everything is still legal and the awful is likely but hasn’t yet started?

I’m serious. Am I supposed to light my career and family on fire to resist tyranny that is still hypothetical? Do I cross my fingers and hope that the bad things don’t actually happen? I think this is a very real question for many Americans. What, realistically, do I do now?

Fortunately half the population isn’t going to listen to Trump or his appointees. Unfortunately half of Americans are. Trump is gonna kill so many Republicans. #LeopardsEatingPeoplesFaces

Durham report. Jesus. Twitter is going to be unbearable tonight. But Durham is wrong. I don’t care how raw or unverified the intelligence. If you have an even vaguely credible accusation that a POTUS candidate is colluding with a hostile power to undermine US elections then you investigate. Period.

I’m not going to argue with his facts. But the conclusion is only opinion, and it’s clearly wrong. He’s a partisan investigator who was hired to put a partisan spin on things and that’s what he’s done here. The conclusions of Durham report aren’t worth anything.
