Once more, we're on. Out January, THE POWER FANTASY #18. "Where we consider the big issues, like if you could travel back in time to kill baby Hitler, would you? How about if Hitler was actually a lovely-if-self-obsessed artist who killed the world by accident? Also, Jacky Magus panics."

Friends, I don’t want to fight, but this sentiment is the quintessential example of the Dril tweet, and I’m seeing it way too often. Rob was a villain. A racist, bigot and spousal abuser who smoked crack in the Mayor’s Office and explicitly punched down on every marginalised group in Toronto.

99% of Boston’s homes violate Boston’s zoning code. They are not illegal to live in, buy, or sell. But if Boston burned down tomorrow, it would be illegal to rebuild 99% of its homes the way they are today. When 99% of homes break the law, the problem is the law, not the homes. (1/8)

That should certainly be the trigger for all governments in Europe to eliminate their dependence on MS, and, indeed, ALL US tech companies, because Apple and Google have bent the knee in other ways.

And here's the kicker: Microsoft has terminated the M365 and Outlook access of international public officials whose official acts made Trump angry.

I’m sorry to have to be the bad guy here but we need to recognize that we live in a compressed air thrusters world now. If you’re not finding ways to teach the critical use of compressed air thrusters in your classroom, you’re setting your students up to fail when you could be setting them up to fly

The aboveground part looks like it could double as the Kent farm.

Why, it’s the Bat Cave, wonderfully bare-bones, low-tech & barely taking up a quarter of a page, from 1945’s Batman #32 by Dick Sprang & Bill Finger.

One thing @emmettmacfarlane.com doesn't get is we #BikeTO advocates have used every argument under the sun to promote bike lanes including safety, public health, climate & economic vitality. The problem is carbrains like Doug Ford don't give a fuck about these arguments. #TOpoli #ONpoli #VisionZero

Emmett Macfarlane 🇨🇦@emmettmacfarlane.com

Cycling activists would get a ton more public support if they avoided framing debates over things like bike lanes like this. Emphasize SAFETY, yes. Bike lanes make cities better. They can even make DRIVING better, by reducing congestion. Invoking 'violence' in ways most people won't buy isn't it.

Once again, for the politicians, business leaders, and journalists still actively posting on X/Twitter: why? You're using a platform that's owned by someone who's trying to break up your country. The juice isn't worth the squeeze.

It took until 1962 for the City of Ottawa to allow all renters to vote in municipal elections. Before that, those living with roommates or in boarding houses couldn't vote. This changed after a referendum (passed 49,776 to 20,262—though renters barred from voting at the time couldn't participate).

DYK that 75% of people in Somerset Ward rent their homes? That’s why I fought hard for a renoviction bylaw and why my team is spending so much time talking to people in apartment buildings. Renters: make sure you vote, so your voice is reflected at City Hall! Join us: Troster2026.ca/shifts

Put another way, Ford wants to spend more on removing bike lanes in Toronto ($48M) than he's spent protecting all of Ontario's businesses from an international trade war. Ontario deserves serious leadership, that follows through on promises, and actually puts people before profits.

Really useful chart from @graphicmatt.com newsletter about where Mayor Chow's administration has spent more money beyond inflation and population growth, and for what. Good basis on which to choose whether one supports her priorities. Note here were also spending reductions elsewhere.
