We are thrilled to unveil the #Fedizen project. Powered by Bonfire, built for the Commons, we are creating a new type of #Fediverse instance that aims to aggregate and curate the best parts of the network.

There's a huge amount of talented artists on the #Fediverse, and they're coming together in the next few days to do an awesome live virtual festival. Everyone is invited!

Hey, an informal announcement, but my budget is tight and I’m a full-time student. I figured that I’d post here that I’m looking to do freelance work, particularly when it comes to writing. What I specialize in: open source, exploring technology, how-to guides, interviews.

Introducing Disperse: an experimental sharesheet that allows you to share to several Atmosphere services at once. At launch, it supports @bsky.app, @blackskyweb.xyz, @semble.so, @margin.at, @rabbithole.land, @kipclip.com, and @sill.social, with more planned. 1/

We collaborated with @timothychambers.net to provide a follow-up from his "Seven Deadly UX Sins for the #Fediverse" series. It's a way to reflect on how things have changed over the past six months, with clear ideas on where things are headed.

I humbly come to you to ask: do you know of any bloggers that write regularly about the #Fediverse, #ActivityPub, #ATproto, or anything of that nature? It feels like it’s harder and harder to find individual voices and perspectives. If you’re writing stuff, I’m interested in following you.

I don't think @toni.bsky.team will be bad for bluesky, but if you don't want to use a platform run by a VC funded by VC's you can continue to talk to everybody here by switching over to @blackskyweb.xyz's servers. Compatible and entirely seperate from bluesky infrastructure.

Jay Graber, the CEO of #Bluesky, is stepping down. She's pivoting to a new role at the company, and will stay involved in day-to-day development of the network.

Blacksky's app view source code has been released publicly here.

Huge progress has been made on implementing End-To-End Encryption in #ActivityPub, thanks to efforts by The Social Web Foundation, Bonfire, and Emissary.

Some thoughts on #Fediverse advocacy as it stands today, and some of the bold ways we could really move the needle on growing this network. Lots of interesting case studies.

I hear and see your concerns. Over the weekend, a couple users hosted on Blacksky's PDS were banned from the Bluesky app and thus the Bluesky API servers. This was a weakness of our system I've been aware of and hoped we had more time to address before any kind of public incident. 1/11

The problem with banning someone who hasn't broken any policies is that the evilest people in the world may own this platform in the future and they can use that in the other direction and point to the OG builders actions and I swear we've seen this before am I in a timeloop

A little proof of concept I've been working on, it's a version of Bluesky that you can run locally, even on your laptop, that pulls just the data you care about from the firehose, indexes it, and provides you an interface to view and interact with posts.

After a brief demo at FediCon 2025, a new, open source fundraising system for the #Fediverse has been released to the public. It's native to the network, and you sign in using your own Fediverse account.

Is a large corporate entity scraping a community-run open social network to train AI models for profit? Dropsite News claims to have received a leak, and the list contains a significant amount of #Fediverse instances.
