I don't think anything can be built out of the current GOP.

Blizzard Passenger@blizzardpassenger.bsky.social

I agree, but I must admit that I wonder if the Republican Party can ever be that sort of reasonable, pro-democracy conservative party again. The upcoming generation of Republicans really only knows Trump. No policy chops. Just transgressive bigotries as political theater.

Vivek Ramaswamy seeks to take political advantage of the fact that his opponent was raped as a child. But to his credit, unlike many other Republican politicians, he was not personally the rapist in question.

This is brilliant, but does anyone know if it's resonating outside the social media political wonks? Is it getting traction amongst people who don't care about politics? @radiofreetom.bsky.social, I think El-Sayed is performing brilliantly, but are the right people hearing it?

This should just be the start. If you want the House and Senate to gain respectability, then the new Dem leaders should state that Congress will work M-F every week from Jan 27 to pass bills and hold the admin accountable. No recesses. Passing bills in the AM, impeachments in the PM. Day after day

Kevin M. Kruse@kevinmkruse.bsky.social

If they deserve to be impeached — and so many of them do — then the House should impeach them. Maybe the Senate won‘t convict but it’s still worth the effort to remind people that laws still exist and that Democrats still defend it. Also, as noted here, make ‘em sweat.

Yeah, it's definitely a DEI plot that prize-winning histories are often about minorities. Couldn't be that those works represent the cutting-edge research into fields that *haven't* been mined to death like Great White Men Histories and also have compelling underdog stories people love. Nah. DEI.

My thoughts on the Ed Sheeran/Macklemore/Robert Kraft drama: Everybody is thinking the game is Ed vs Mack when it is, and has always been, Kraft vs all of us. The only was we ever bring the rich to heel is if we band together. The rich know this and work to have us at each other's throats.

Glad 60 Minutes is doing a Jacob Wohl story literally nine years after I reported on that guy. One time he was pretending a scam website he was running wasn't his, so I called the number on the website and it went to his mom's voicemail. Jacob is like training wheels for investigative journalists.

The fact is, race has NOTHING to do with this. There is a subset of humans who will hate the "other" because they are simple and weak. There is a subset of humans who realize that skin color means nothing. The continued advancement of our civilization depends on the latter outvoting the former
