I’m seeing people reacting by pointing out that he’s obviously wrong. I appreciate that, but it’s also a pointless exercise. The problem isn’t that he’s wrong. The problem is that this is normal in American politics — and it’s been normal for a while.

I can think of one other reason that makes sense.

Marisa Kabas@marisakabas.bsky.social

The only reason I can think of for this news not being absolutely everywhere is that large media orgs don’t want to be seen as putting their thumbs on the scales a week before election day. And that’s cowardly as shit.

Also it's kind of bothering me how a lot of the responses to this are "Hah, shows what he knows, what about [notably smart Arab person]!" which is unnecessary when the correct response is "What the fuck is wrong with you, you discarded piece of racist, desiccated hog scrotum?"

This post is unavailable.

Plenty of people have said this already but it's an incomprehensible societal failure that the naked, gutter racism of this administration and its supporters is completely normalized now, if only because white people finally feel comfortable being who most of them have always been.

There can never be another "water under the bridge" administration ever again, and part of that is going to involve shaming everyone on board with this one - voters included - as the disgusting pig racists they are

i am inviting anyone from a legacy media organization to explain to me why the house judiciary dems report on trump’s epstein’s ties and multiple allegations of rape isn’t worthy of extensively reporting on. i’m serious. i want to understand.

It’s just so appalling and enraging how casual and commonplace this has become. I’m out of words.

i don't think anyone should run explicitly on banning online gambling but i do think that a democratic-led government should just quietly take steps to undermine the industry and create an inhospitable regulatory environment

Lula won in part by banning online gambling

It's fascinating watching my roommate play his boy games. I have no idea what any of these are just to look at him. It's 'guy with gun shooting at gun guys' sometimes with a magic scepter or something, sometimes just the gun. You could tell me these are anything and I'd believe you.

A serial rapist was elected twice as President, a fact we don't reckon with nearly enough. Now one of two major political parties has been molded in his image, run for and by violent sexual abusers who hate women.

There are only two explanations for the NYT's habit of presenting GOP operatives and donors as true swing voters: 1. Their reporters and editors are somehow incapable of running a simple Google searches, showing just a staggering level of journalistic incompetence 2. They want to the GOP to win

Alright, thanks for the update, Chris.

I don't know that there is a definitive line to cross that makes you say, "I live in a police state now" but when masked gunmen can routinely brutalize the public, citizen or immigrant alike, with impunity, you have reached that point.

Note the key phrase "so many people." Yglesias thinks it's fine—good in fact—that American billionaires are very interested in foreign elections and routinely influence them to promote corruption and fascism. His concern is that filthy plebs like you and me might want better things for everyone.

Still desperately need a friend who actually likes the porn work I do, by the way. Like this is much more fun when you've got somebody you can invite over to see the cool model you've been building except the model's an erotic and ironic (eronic?) series of events that leads to dicking.

WhimsicalSquirrel@whimsicalsquirrel.bsky.social

Gotta get up and make the porn. The people are counting on me. Well, not really, but it's the closest thing to 'useful' that I do. Hell yeah, alright, NOW we're motivated! C'mon everyone, let's go accept that singular purpose in life 💪

I might actually support an election system where the winner has to win two straight rounds, no matter how many rounds it takes.

Brazil’s results tonight are a big endorsement for the idea that every country should have a second “are you you sure about that” election a couple weeks after the first one for the important stuff
