For 9/11, I was going to post my anti-Iraq war film from 2004 that was selected for 13 film festivals in the US, UK, Canada, and France, but I forgot that Youtube censored it several years ago because it had "imagery involving war".
So I'll post the synopsis in the reply:
Those images are embedded in this film to act as a bloody rebuke to those Americans who have remained blissfully ignorant of the destruction wreaked on their behalf.

So I'll post the synopsis in the reply:
Horror, at the mutilation and pain inflicted on innocent men, women, and children;
Disgust, at the craven ideologues willing to slaughter thousands to further their agenda.
There are raw, bloody, horrifying images in this film. These images were commonplace in Iraq during the invasion, and were broadcast throughout the world during the war.
In America, the country that launched the invasion, such images were considered "unsuitable" for viewing by its citizens.

So I'll post the synopsis in the reply:
The film opens with a recap of the fraudulent claims used to justify the invasion, followed by a sample of the sanitized-for-Americans media coverage of the invasion, then zooms in to focus on the horrific carnage inflicted on a single Baghdad family by an errant American bomb.
This film is a distillation of many emotions I felt during the American invasion of Iraq:
Rage, at the cynical lies used to justify the invasion as preemptive self-defence;
Shame, at the terror inflicted in my name;
Fear, as my country became a paranoid monster - and exulted in its monstrosity;

A Baghdad family becomes collateral damage when George W. Bush invades Iraq.
The film presents the true story of Little Orphan Ali, a 12-year old who lost his family, and his arms, in the "shock and awe" air attacks on Baghdad during the invasion of Iraq.

"Chicago"? How appropriate - "The musical is about murder, debauchery, publicity, fame, and ultimately, justice – or a lack thereof." In short, the bad guys/girls get away with murder.
Joined by the first lady, Trump arrived in the presidential box suite at the arts center, renamed the "Trump Kennedy Center" by his board in December, on the opening night of "Chicago." https://cnn.it/4bZjXB5
Tax exiles stuck in London desperately trying to get *back* to Dubai to avoid becoming tax resident in the UK? Just great stuff. giftarticle.ft.com/giftarticle/...
‘British expats, he claimed, were refusing to fill out evacuation forms provided by the British government “just in case it somehow turns into a tax form instead”.’
No notes.

The White House has helped MAGA influencers escape the Middle East on a private jet while more than a million ordinary Americans are still trapped with no way out.
Totally concur, I made K-SPEW Talk Radio in 1996 to show the motivations of a canonical right-wing talk radio host in an attempt to answer the question: "Who are these strange, unseen people behind the microphone, and why are they filling the ether with hate, paranoia and intolerance?"
A thing I strongly believe, but that was only obvious in retrospect, was that drive-time talk radio was the most valuable propaganda platform in history and a big reason we got into this mess we're in now was because conservatives dominated it in the 1990s and 2000s
Trump gets off on violent descriptions of women being murdered, it’s kind of his thing. He savors the gory details, lustfully. You’re in a sick place, America.
In competitive authoritarianism (US right now) there's often a "loyal opposition" that's essential to the regime. They are so wedded to "decorum," they go along with rites & rituals that help regime prop up veneer of normalcy, undermining clear view of regimes actions & aims.
Perhaps it would decline to use (human) identity pronouns in describing itself. There‘s A whole thought experiment here. But just laying claim to “punk” for the spinning jennies of technofeudalism… nah.
God’s experiment with Creation was to create beings that were like Him except for a central exception, which is that for us there is a difference between speech and action. For Him they’re the same. We often indulge in the fantasy that this is true for us too.
*It's traumatic, surreal, bewildering, titanic in scale, of historical consequence. You don't and can't understand the whole event as it bloodily swirls around you. But at the end, if you live and the hallucinations fade, maybe you can brag that you were there.
This is my kids’ commute to school 😍
Lots of work to be done at either end to make it safer for them, but it’s an amazing to have that 5-10 mins of nature every morning.
As a former public defender who represented thousands of people, I can’t stop thinking about the contrast the Epstein files raise.
I watched 1000s face swift, devastating punishment for far less serious conduct — poor, marginalized, & presumed dangerous from the start.
A couple of years after his death, I‘ve started trying to figure out my dad’s art collection. It’s mostly Japanese and Chinese but with some nice 20th-century plein air pieces of local mountains. It’s a mix of good and medium stuff.

Yes, by all means, Democrats, whatever you do, in the middle of Trump's SOTU speech, DO NOT stand up and yell, "QUIET PIGGY," unless you want to be the frontrunner for the 2028 presidential nomination.
