Widespread stupidity in US makes it very hard for sane Americans to bring the country back to somewhat saner path. But it is still much easier than what people in many countries of the world have to face when fighting for democracy.

Trump's appeal isn't that he hates the people that MAGA hates. Trump's appeal is that he's promised to MAGA that he will *harm* the people that they hate. Big difference. Makes the loyalty asymmetrical and transactional. Different commitment.
