Former Army type here (went thru Bragg long ago): Today, most troops couldn't repeat the oath if their lives depended on it. Most of them know only the "obey your officers" and don't know or understand the Constitution part at the beginning. They're trained to ignore the Constitution.

This is reprehensible. I (or anyone I was stationed with) would have been reprimanded for this type of partisan/political behavior when I was in.

What is a mere American to think when the assembled troops behave this way, goaded or not?Distrust the military is the first thing that comes to mind.

I don’t know how “on board” the commanders are. There have to be some that know this is wrong but they are just biding their time. At the least this could come up on evaluations, impact promotion. It is frustrating but I have to believe there are still people in the army who know what their job is.

Honestly, (and I have no hard facts to base this on), I feel like we’re 50/50 on how the military will go at best. Can’t make any assumptions.

I fear that our military is ready to follow Trump right into dictatorship.

They should all be dishonorably discharged. They’re only there for the paycheck anyway.
